Cats drop piano on Coppin State

Brandon Knight at Pine Crest School

Brandon Knight scored 17 points and added a career-best eight assists.

Even if Kentucky was looking ahead to Friday's showdown at No. 20 and archrival Louisville, Coppin State sure couldn't catch them.

In its final tune-up before its all-important intrastate rivalry game against the Cardinals New Year's Eve, the Wildcats dropped a piano on the Eagles.

Terrence Jones scored 18 points to lead a balanced scoring effort as five players reached double figures as UK easily dispatched the Eagles 91-61 at Rupp Arena Tuesday.

Brandon Knight scored 17 points and added a career-high eight assists and Doron Lamb chipped in with 17 off the bench as the Cats shot out to a 15-2 lead and never looked back. Coppin State's first field goal didn't come until the 12:12 mark of the first half.

DeAndre Liggins turned in another stellar overall floor game, finishing with 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Josh Harrellson joined the Cats in double figures with 10 points.

UK dominated Coppin State on the glass where they held a 38-18 advantage.
