NASHVILLE - The first half of Kentucky's season saw it drop out of the national rankings but the Cats can begin working their way back into the conversation as they begin Southeastern Conference play.

The Cats (9-4) travel to Vanderbilt for the opener of a new 18-game league gauntlet, a difficult venue to open what they hope will be a much better second stage of the 2012-13 season.

Not surprisingly, it looks like there is going to be a lot more blue in here tonight than in recent years. Product of Vanderbilt really stinking up the joint to this point this season.

The UK women got the night off to a good start for the Cats, coming back from a halftime deficit to beat Texas A&M 65-62 at Memorial Coliseum, the school-record 31st consecutive home victory for UK.

Will be interested to see how UK comes out tonight. Much more talented than Vandy but also their first SEC road game.

Vandy just 6-6 on the year but 6-1 in games it makes more 3s than its opponent.
Defending the perimeter will be key.

Really like what Ryan Harrow has done against the zone this season.

Boy I bet it is just about as hard for B. Knight to do play by play of our game as it is for me to listen to him. It will be interesting if we continue to play good if he can actually say something nice other than statistically we are better than Vanderbilt

I'm pleased with the first 5 minutes. Looks like they're handling the road atmosphere better than early on in the season.

Yeah, this is exactly right.
Poythress is playing with more energy. However, like MKG couldn't shoot, poythress's foot work is just not there yet.
