Kentucky received big recruiting news out of the state of Texas Tuesday and it had nothing to do with the Harrison twins.
The nation's top-ranked player, Plano (Tex.) Prestonwood 5-star 2013 power forward Julius Randle cut his list to a six-pack of schools Tuesday and is now down to Kentucky, N.C. State, Florida, Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma, per the schools' official Twitter account:
@PCAAthletics: Julius Randle narrows to 6: Kentucky, NC State, Florida, Texas, Kansas, OU.
The 6-foot-9, 250-pound forward eliminated Baylor, Duke, North Carolina and Oklahoma State.
Randle hosted Kentucky coach John Calipari for an in-home visit on the first day of the contact period Sept. 9 and returned the favor with an official visit to Lexington the following weekend for the Wildcats' first annual charity alumni game at Rupp Arena Sept. 15.
He is scheduled to take his second official visit to Florida this weekend.
