Wiltjer answers Calipari's warning

Kyle Wiltjer

Six days after being criticized by his coach, Kyle Wiltjer was not only playing, he was telling John Calipari to give him the ball in Kentucky's 75-65 win over Tennessee

    • He made a couple big 3-pointers early, and Mays made a couple biggies late.

    • The verdict is still out on this team. They have to keep growing and need to win every game before UF if we see them where their potential lies. Not sure about a final four, but if they come together elite 8 maybe. They need Kyle to help lead them. Then they really need Archie or Alex to become that go-to-guy.

Hopefully they can make it happen.

    • . He was more than a 3 pt shooter only and that was what a lot of people have wanted to see from the start of the season. If he can be like this on a consistant basis or just close then this team will be much better overall. Kyle played with energy tonight and showed us a variety of offensive moves and seemed more aggressive on the defensive end, which is a big improvement in itself.

    • If Kyle can play consistently well, like last nigth, Mays hits a couple of threes, and some how Alex wakes up and starts getting the 15 points a game he should get this team can make a run.

    • The big issue with Kyle isn't necessarily defensive effort (because it hasn't been there), but whether or not he can consistently keep out of foul trouble with his lack of athletic ability. My biggest concern for him going into the season was who does he guard? His defensive presence is one that would be good against traditional back-to-the-basket type centers yet he plays on the perimeter as an offensive player. One thing is sure, however, we need his offensive production. It completely changes the game for us.
