During the pre-season, UK coach John Calipari's nickname for Doron Lamb was "Buckets."

Doron Lamb made his first five and 7 of 8 three-pointers en route to breaking Jamal Mashburn's single-game freshman scoring record.
Wednesday, Winthrop found out why.
Lamb broke Jamal Mashburn's single-game freshman scoring mark of 31 points, scoring 32 points on 11 of 12 shooting as the Wildcats grounded the Eagles 89-52 at Rupp Arena.
Lamb was pouring buckets from beyond the arc, making his first five three's and finishing 7 of 8.
During last season's pre-Christmas, rare weekday afternoon matchup, UK looked like they had just rolled out of bed in playing Long Beach State to a 37-37 tie at halftime, before pulling away in the second half for an 86-73 win.
The Wildcats looked like early birds during Wednesday's matinee, hitting on 11 of its first 13 field goals and 8 of its first 9 three's to make quick work of Winthrop.
Lamb and Brandon Knight combined for 34 first half points as UK hit 10 of 14 three's in the first 20 minutes. Trailing 36-15, Winthrop used a 17-5 run to close the UK lead to 41-32. But the Cats responded by ending the half on a 10-0 spurt capped by Lamb's lay-in at the buzzer for a 51-32 lead at the break.
Knight finished with 21 points as he and Lamb combined to outscore the Eagles 53-52.
