Kentucky is down a member of the football coaching staff tonight.
Shortly after University of Southern California quarterback Matt Barkley hinted on the social networking platform Twitter that Tee Martin was joining the Trojans' football program, the UK assistant coach confirmed the news to CatsPause.com
"Yes," Martin said via text message. "I'm headed to S.C."
Martin, who spent the last two years on Joker Phillips' staff at UK, will work for Lane Kiffin at Southern Cal. Kiffin previously coached at Tennessee, where Martin starred in the late 90s and led the Volunteers to the 1998 national championship.
Martin coached wide receivers for the Wildcats, the same position he'll oversee with the Trojans. Ted Gilmore coached receivers at USC last season, but left for a job with the Oakland Raiders.
Perhaps of even bigger concern for UK and Phillips now is finding a replacement for Martin on the recruiting trail. He had been responsible for landing several of the Cats' better athletes the last two years and had opened many doors tot he UK program in his home state of Alabama. He was the point man on 2012 signees Justin Taylor, a running back who had previously committed to Alabama, and quarterback/athlete Jalen Whitlow.
