For as much recruiting success that John Calipari has enjoyed during his tenure at Kentucky, which is to say unprecedented, the Wildcats missed on their top overall target for the third consecutive year when Arlington (Tex.) Prime Prep point guard Emmanuel Mudiay chose SMU over UK and others.
Ranked as the top overall prospect in the 2014 class by 247Sports, Mudiay follows Andrew Wiggins (2013) and Shabazz Muhammad (2012) as top-rated recruits that have spurned Kentucky's advances in recent years.
