Tacos- I've also never seen you be right, no offense. The Hearns deal is simple - he's taking the ACT today and his scores won't be back for a month. Good score (at least get a 17/18) and he's got a shot. End-of-semester grades would be the remaining factor. So we won't be hearing about him for another few months. We're clearly his leader if he does make it. That said, 3 months is a long time.
I'm sure there's at least one current wildcat that is actively rooting for him to NOT make it here - if he makes it, somebody has to go.

One thing I don't really understand is what do we have to lose if we sign James Hearns?
Unless we feel really good about signing 3 other big-time prospects this spring, if we sign him and he doesn't qualify, it doesn't hurt us because we would get an extra spot for next season, meaning we can sign 26 next year instead of 25 since we only enrolled 24 players.

I was kind of in the same boat. Why not proceed with the guy? I don't know if UT got involved or not, but being from down there, all of their people told me he was suddenly on their radar. Sign that dude up. If he doesn't make it, then he doesn't make it. I think UT thought they were getting Vonn Bell at S and now have a ride to play with.

It seems very evident that the staff doesn't view LB as an immediate need like some of the fan base believes. Otherwise they would've signed some. Look for them to bring in some LBs next yr.
Hearns sounds more and more like a no go. Just based on grades.
Lawson is the most likely but I'm starting to think he's a no go. I think we'll end up with another 1 or 2 guys that we haven't really heard about. Or just sign more next yr.

Yep, plus if he just needs a higher test score because of his GPA and he doesn't get it before August, he can always study up this fall, take the SAT & ACT a couple of times, and enroll in December. With the right preparation, those standardized tests aren't very difficult (OT, but those tests really discriminate against low-income students since they can't afford to take a prep class, which is why some schools are starting to no longer require them...the NCAA should allow colleges to fund SAT/ACT prep courses for their signees).
