    This.
Texas Tech doesn't have elite o-linemen but gave up very few sacks.

This is 100% correct but there are also many plays to the TE and down field that takes alittle time to develop. As noted above above if Smith can stay healthy he could put up some very big numbers in this spread.

  • I like what I've sseen from Max, but his 2 weaknesses are: prone to injury, and interceptions. As much as the Air Raid will sling the ball around, interceptions concern me. I see Max starting the year, but Towles potentially taking over midway if he can get things down.

Here's my dream scenario I'd like to see: Woulard RS's, Max is starter, but Towles starts playing so well, we can't keep him off the field. Towles is our starter again in 2014, backed up by Max and Woulard, who will only be a rs freshman.
By 2015, Stoops ought to have all the pieces in place to truly compete. At that point, Towles leaves for the draft and Woulard, a RS sophmore fully integrated into the system takes over a team that's ready from the get go! Of course, all this time, we hopefully were RS'ing talented guys to take over when Woulard leaves.

Max had int issues in one game. That happens. Even two years ago he protected the ball well when he was thrown into the fire.

In terms of his injuries... He's had two. Both "impact" injuries. Those were injuries by chance. ONe an ankle injury that could have been a lot worse and a shoulder injury that would have happened to anybody else. "injury prone" usally means that somebody has issues pulling muscles or with a particular joint. Max doesn't seem to have any of those issues.

  • Honestly, one of the best things to happen right now would be for Max to live up his potential and take full control over the job, Towles some how becomes Big Ben lite and gives us a very solid back-up or win the job out right, Whitlow becomes a better passer, wins or becomes back-up or probably move to receiver and become a starter, Phillips red shirts and provides depth to the QB position for the future, or a kid like Woulard comes in and wins the job out right and prove to be the right choice or red shirt, becoming a viable option in the next year or two. No more flounders on the QB position cause it's like the NFL, get the right QB, your team takes off. Make the wrong choice and your set back big time.

  • Woulard could be in the mold of Teddy Bridgewater. YOud think hes a lock to rs IF we land him..both Smith and Towles are good Qb's, and U want some space between your guys.

Yeah but look where he is now. I was all for Joker to succeed but he didn't manage or develop the roster well, granted Brooks last two classes really affected the roster down the road but Joker didn't manage the team very well and a lot of our players suffer from a development stand point. You'll probably see some names emerge that you didn't think would play and that would be huge for our team. I'm all about letting the best guy win but you do want the same to happen again if the roster is not develop and manage well this time around?

I totally agree with you about Joker's staff inability to properly develop our talent. It is kind of crazy to go from a bad recruiting staff under Brooks that could develop talent well to the exact opposite under Joker. It does bode well for the next incoming coach though.

What??????? How dare you mention Bridgewater or UL!!!!!! LoL Only trolls would compare Stoops signing Woulard to Strong signing Bridgwater. LoL

You do understand why you get a lot of crap is that you are always crying about how UK needs to be like UofL and no one wants to hear it. Only thing that Bridgewater and Woulard have in common is that they both are athletic, play QB, and are from Florida.

Both of Maxwell Smith's season's have been ended due to injuries. He also missed the Florida game this season due to a shoulder injury. Durability is a huge question mark with him as he seems to have very weak shoulders. I would bet the house that if he is our starting QB this year, he won't start all 12 games. We'll be lucky if he can start 8 games. Patrick Towes also seems to be injury prone.

I really don't think Towles is injury prone, that was a freak injury that could have happen to anyone. Joker should have keep his red shirt on for the straight fact he needed for conditioning purposes and overall work on his footwork/mechanics. You are right that there are concerns on whether Smith can make it a full season, people are hoping that Stoops strength and conditioning coaches will changes a lot of that.

Smith reinjured the same shoulder again this year. He is, indeed, injury phone when it comes to his shoulder. I agree with you, however, regarding his ankle. That was just a freak injury.

I agree, we hike it, the QB gets no protection most of the time, and he gets killed often, that is a bad scheme. But help is on the way, the Brown Air Raid Way.

  • Joker has apparently made contact at UF and is trying to use the Brissett transfer as a way to get him. Glad Joker didn't think he was worth the time to recruit here. No respect for him

  • This makes me so mad. He is really persuading Woulard. I think he is more of a Florida lean at this point.

  • I understand the concern whenever UF gets involved with someone we all really want to commit to UK. But, there isnt anything out there I've seen to suggest that he is a UF lean a this point. From comments I've heard him make about one of the things attracting him to UK was the Air Raid offense. I don't believe he will be throwing the ball nearly as much at UF as he will at UK.

It's coming off this way due to a lot twitter chatter, especially coming from his end after the army bowl. It's going to be a dog fight either way but half the battle is won just getting him to officially visit in January. USF can almost guarantee a legit shot at being the starter depending on his health, we could almost due the same but it's not as clear and it would take a big leap of faith on him if we are going to turn the corner, Florida can guarantee playing with big time players and now with Brissett more and likely leaving gives him a shot to beat out Driskel or being the back-up while with a legit shot winning the east next year. NC State is probably the dark horse in this race. He likes what our offense is going to present to a QB but he also favors a more pro oriented offense.

With us being as shallow for WRs, I hope Whitlow can give us some help at that position..If he happens to win the QB competition, fine, but, I think he's the one guy out of our current QBs that has the athleticism and ability to play another position and contribute..

dont know why so many are counting Whitlow out. he beat out towles this past year. towles' numbers were not good at all when added up for the year. Smith and Whitlow would be 1 and 2 i think.

I realize that it's UF, and Joker isn't calling the shots like he was here. But, I find it extremely difficult to believe that the fact that it's Joker calling can't help the gators in this situation! JMHO

I had always respected Joker. Now... he's just a joke!

I am hoping that is the case. I hope Woulward realizes that this is the same coach that would not give him the time of day at UK. That should be a turn off in itself. Now he has a chance to come and be a star at UK and run the Air Raid with Neal Brown. I just hope that is enough to make him pop for UK
