  • With Alex Smith leaving the program, UK is now just two over for the 2011 class. Of course, it could be that Joker decides to bring a few short of what he can in the summer and fall. There are still a few players working on their academics, as well as a couple needing to delay their clock. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

  • How many was originally signed in the 2015 class? Its already down to 12 scolarship players, wow I thought they signed around 22 or 23 in that class.

    Not including JC players, there were 20. 8 of them played as true FR last fall.

  • UK is down to 79 schollie players. And, have 21 rides for next year's class. There is no doubt Joker will sign 25 now.

    I have been following Patrick Towles a little bit this year and I think he will rise in the rankings..... HE SHOULD rise in the rankings anyway.

    He should be at least a 4 star when all is said and done. OK that being said, Do you guys think that he will Redshirt and Newton will finish out his career and plays as a Soph? or Does he Redshirt next year and wait his turn until he is a Jr. like coach JP's system Behind Smith?

    I know Patrick's numbers are growing along with his ( Legend, for lack of a better term ) and after the out performing a Top 5 QB ( Pike ) Auburn commit it is going to be hard to not get this kid on the field.

    Just wanting to know what you guys think and if some one knew anything.

    That's a hard call right now. There is no denying Patrick is a stud HS QB. Morgan Newton was the same in HS. But, producing as a QB in the SEC is totally different. I would say Towles will RS next year. Morgan will be a SR and the staff loves Maxwell Smith's potential. I do not see the need to play Patrick as true FR.

    I was just thinking about that. With Smith Here I figured that Towles would not be competing for serious time until he is a Soph. in 2014 or so but I thought I would see what you guys think as well.

    Hopefully the light comes on soon for Newton..... ( well... an O line blocking and the WR's catching balls will help ) and with Smith and Towles behind him will be a GREAT problem to have.

    Thanks again, I am just was wondering.

  • With Dale Trimble's departure, UK currently has 61 players on scholarship. That gives the staff 24 rides for the 2012 class. Two may be spoken for with juco OL Darone Bailey enrolling in January and 2011 late qualifier WR Nile Daniel planning to enroll in January. So, that's 22 rides, but with expected attrition I would expect the staff to sign 25. Or, oversign to protect against academic casualties.
