  • Recruits don't care who we play OOC. They care about us winning, going bowling, and playing in the SEC. There is zero reason to beef up our schedule until we start winning 9-10 games every year. And even then it is questionable.

Would going down to play a Georgia Tech or Miami on occasion help recruiting? Possibly.

I would love a series with GT.

I don't understand giving up a home game to play in a Pro Stadium though. I know it costs $700k-$1M now to get teams to do a home only series, but you recoup that back in ticket sales and the ability to host recruits. I don't think recruits can come watch games a certain distance from campus, but maybe that's wrong. I have changed my mind on this since last year. I was fur it but now that I think about it, I'm again' it.

I'd love to see the revenue from the Miami (OH) game compared to a home game. Matt, Jeff, James...that your FOA assignment for today!

Those actually "away" games for UK. That is why they are playing in pro stadiums. At Cincy, all the video ads were for Miami.

You hit the nail on the head with this post. It is our conference AND the recent run of bowl games that is helping recruiting. The longer we extend the bowl streak, and continue to add to the number of wins/season, the better the recruiting will get. Plus, the weak OOC games allow us to build some more game-experienced depth for going into the brutal SEC games. The only way I'd want the OOC beefed up a little would be if we are winning 6+ conference games per year and competing for division titles. At that point you could lose to a powerhouse program (ND, VT, OSU, FSU) and bowl eligibility isn't even a question.

  • Getting rid of the UL game makes great sense. We have and will not gain anything from this game win or not. Play some teams in othe areas we recruit such as Memphis, Tulane, So Miss, UVA, Duke, NC State or Cincy. We need to schedule 4 games we can win to get that bowl invite. The HS kids are looking at conference TV exposure and bowl games.
