Roark at QB: Excuse or Indictment?

So is Matt Roark at QB today a built in excuse for Joker if UK loses to Tennessee or is it an indictment of Joker that the QB today would have been Mossakowski had he been any chance at all to compete on field for the job?

One more note on Roark. Not only was he a QB in high school, his coach at the time was UK assistant Tee Martin. Not so far fetched maybe.

It will absolutely function as an excuse today when they lose, but long term it has to be seen as an indictment. Not only of the Mossakowski situation, but of their inability to find a QB in the last several years of recruiting.

Regardless it is another example of exactly how disfunctional this program is currently.

If Roark takes considerable snaps at quarterback today, it speaks more about the state of the program than anything else, extending back to the tail end of the Brooks years and into the Phillips era.

I think it also has to be considered that its a scholly situation too; yes Moss left but next year we'll have five QBs on scholly; Newt, Smith, Cobbins, the transfer and Towles, just so happens we dont want to burn bookies RS, the transfer is ineligible, I think we might be overblowing this one here, just an unfortunate set of circumstances for me.....

It is unfortunate. It is pretty handcuffing, though, that the coaches have pretty much known all year that this was the case. This is obviously the worst-case scenario, and I'm guessing Cobbins would get his shirt pulled if it were Game 6 instead of Game 12.

I think if a bowl was on the line even or this game had meaning beyond beating the streak Bookie might be making his debut, but there's nothing riding on this so why waste the RS? Lets hope Smith can go and make it through the full game with no problems!

Randy Sanders said he's never seen anything like this while he's been coaching.
Had a stripped down 6-page playbook for Max Smith. Roark's was about half a page.

Who knows? I do know that when Randall Cobb was at UK, McCaskill was the second-string guy in the Wildcat package for practice purposes (not that they'd ever run it in a game).

Bookie is a moving to WR. He might play some Wildcat, but I expect Collins to play more Wildcat QB than Bookie.

You know love you Darrell, but hindsight is always 20/20. Frankly I give joker credit for not pulling a bill curry and taking bookie's redshirt off.
Moss is getting virtually no looks from major d-1 schools after a year in juco. Telling moss he had a chance when he didn't would have been unfair to the kid.

Unbelievable game by Roark. Only threw it a few times and had a very limited playbook. Despite that, he lead the team to victory. Definitely a candidate for POW.

I've seen a couple of situations in high school where a guy came in at QB from another position in an emergency situation and got the job done, but NEVER at this level. What Matt Roark did on short notice bordered on miraculous. To me, it would be like an outfielder in AAA ball who hadn't pitched since high school being tossed into a starting spot and pitching a complete game for the win.

Go back to the Baltimore Colts playoff game in 1965(I think) against the Rams. Tom Matte started the game at QB after starter Johnny U was injured earlier in the year and the backup had been injured in the previous game(separated shoulder). Matte led the Colts to a 20-17 win! He then led the Colts over the Cowboys and "Dandy Don Meredith" by a score of 35-3 and was named game MVP-Matte had the plays written on his wrist ban which is now in the Hall of Fame.
