  • Ten weeks sounds like a long time, but it'll be here before we know it.

Imagine if you're the UK staff and you know how important that first game is. You've got 10 weeks to get ready, and only about half of those will be used for full team practice.

Yeah, and it all really gets started for the fans once Media Days gets here....which is only in 2 or 3 weeks. After that, we start getting so much news on a daily basis that the time flies by to week one.

  • Beat Louisville at Louisville and the entire footbal season will be a good one.

This game is more than a must win and I hate "must wins". For Joker's sake, win this game at all costs.

I'm with you on "must wins." They're particularly over-used in UK circles. You can't have 2-3 must-win games. :p

But in this case, it might be. If nothing else, it's the most important game Joker's ever coached to date.

  • Its important for Joker for sure but it is also important for the fans, the one's that have stuck by Joker as well as the one's who have not. The Tennessee game is long gone and we live in a what have you done for me lately society so if UK wins the Louisville game, many fans who have lost faith in Joker and the program will return and the one's that stuck can say I told you so.

Even if it is a close hard fought game, win or lose it is good for Joker.

I do not want to think what would happen if it is a UL blowout.

    Beat Louisville.

Sorry, but playing a Big East team comprised of mostly sophmores "close" but on the losing end is not in any way, shape, or fashion good for Joker Phillips.

  • I disagree with that sentiment, but agree that, in reality, only a victory will satisfy thr majority of fans who are calling for him to go.

I have a legitimate question for you. Im not at all trying to start an argument. I only want your opinion of what i think as well as your answer. Ok? Civility. Lol

Do you (or do you think the program) really truly cares about fairweather fans? (actual question You always hear coaches and GMs talking about "noise" a lot now a days. Are bitching fans really being heard?

I truly don't care about the fans that would return after losing faith once we beat UofLOL. Those have always been called fairweather fans imo. I do understand the importance of revenue as it relates to football, im certainly no idiot, but fans are going to come out to games. There may be some season ticket holders not renewing and such but only unless we are sitting at 2-3 wins heading into the last two games would you see an empty CWS...at least empty enough to effect anything financially. Just imo.

  • In my opinion UL is a must win every year. If you can't beat UL most likely you will never be .500 in league play or contend for the east title. A win in this game sets the tone for the season, for the fans especially. UK fans, players, coaches should expect to beat UL every year. Call me unrealistic but just the way I feel about them. I hate UL.

  • Loving summer, but can't wait for football season to return! That 1st weekend will be fantastic, games from Thursday through Monday night, some actually great interesting matchups scheduled.
