2009 Top 10 WR

  • Saw this on TOS MB and thought it was interesting:

    2009 WR Class Top 10

Rueben Randle- Solid career considering the QBs throwing to him but disappointing for top overall WR.

Andre Debose - Dubbed the next Percy kid has been a disappointment so far. Best game and nearly 30% of his stats came against Furman.

Jheranie Boyd- Hasn't been the same since his acl injury. Disappointing junior season.

Patrick Patterson- Off the field issues and disappointing seasons.

Marlon Brown- The emergence of younger talent led to a disappointing season and career so far.

    Terry Hawthorne- Moved to DB

Orson Charles- Played TE and had a good season and overall career at UGA.

Rodney Smith- Solid career so far and will start for Seminoles for second straight season.

Nukeese Richardson- Got arrested, dismissed, the ultimately quit football.

Bryce McNeal- Left Clemson after catching only 1 pass his sophomore season.

  • Interesting list. I'd be willing to say the average CFB fan has never heard of 80% of those guys. (Maybe higher.)

I would argue that Rueben Randle has been far from disappointing, though. That kid has been really good, and the NFL scouts love him.

  • Orson Charles had a stellar three year career at UGA and left after his Jr season for the NFL draft. So, he was a hit! Except, he got busted with a DUI last week and dropped two rounds as soon as the cop lights came on.

I hadn't heard that yet. Amazing that a guy who is ready to secure his financial future for life puts himself in that position.

  • Where did Patrick Patterson end up? I remember that name for some reason.

I believe he is in Houston....HA!

This kid went to Ole Miss if I'm not mistaken. No clue where he is now...

  • Drum, just out of curiosity, how many of these guys do you recall interviewing, if any?

  • That list is reason I believe the receiving corps warrants a little more patience. These are "Top 10" receivers and didn't develop. It's a miracle we got the amount of production we did from Cobb, Matthews, Johnson.

My hope is we have enough athletic talent and Washington can develop them. Marlon Brown is a prime example of how hard it is to get great receivers. This guy was "Can't Miss" and just started producing for UGA.

Maybe one or two, if that. Marlon Brown and Bryce McNeal, IIRC.

  • Wow!! Talk about epic fail. I remember being VERY impressed with Debose and thinking what a weapon he'd be for Florida. Not even close. I thought highly of Brown as well and he's done nothing at UGa.
