***2012 KENTUCKY FOOTBALL SUMMER DEPTH CHART***

  • i thought ukwu played very well considering how much he sat and was hampered. he is a solid player and i think if huguenin can take say 30 percent the snaps it will make both of them better and fresher. the guy that i think is most important is rumph he was solid last yr but he is a guy with the size strength and agility to play in the nfl. i could see him having a monster yr this year.

  • 71 John Gruenschlaeger (6-11, 339, RFr.) Is this guy quick enough to see the field? If he is, that's an awful big body for a defender to get past!

39 D.J. Warren (6-0, 241, So.) How much did Connor weigh? That seems like some pretty good weight for a fullback!

As far as RB, I'm assuming Clemons is behind Coshik and Sanders because of uncertainty with his knee

I wonder if moving Douglass is more of a move out of neccesity for depth, rather than it being his best position?

  • The most exciting part of this depth chart...
Its practically nothin but sophs and fresh...and the incoming aren't when on here yet.

Future is very bright for UK!

Imo retaining Joker & co is a MUST, but this talent absolute MUST translate into at minimum 6 wins to do so.

  • OL-Looks like 2-3 freshmen OL will see time this year. I agree with most about RT, if the two guys on the depth chart don't show bigtime improvement we could be in trouble. The other four spots are about as talented as UK gets. Warford is a beast and Smith when healthy is about as solid as it gets. West had lots of good offers and appears to be the real deal. Miller will likely take a big step forward and maybe our most athletic OL at UK in years. This group can't afford any injuries

QB- I think Maxwell has it locked down unless Towles just sets the world on fire. Whitlow is slated for a Cobb role not sure if he is a full time QB.

WR- Sweat and Legree will play. By the end of the year they could be taking reps from lots of the guys not named King, Collins, Robinson.

RB- Really like Coshik and Clemons. I think Mobley plays as long as he is able to pick up the protection schemes. Sanders is solid but nothing great will provide depth.

TE- Still no one on campus or coming in that I look to set the world on fire from a production standpoint. Hopefully, the lights come on for Shields or Kendrick both are good athletes.

CB- Looks pretty good at the starters as long as Caffey is a good as advertised. Wouldn't be suprised to see a couple of freshmen here as well.

LB- Dupree and Willamson will put up great numbers. Willaimson is an upgrade to Sneed in my opinion. Trevathan will be missed, he was just to good not to but I don't think this unit is going to struggle that much. Like to see Rancifer and Jabari Johnson step it up. Likely to see Kadeem Thomas or Khalid Henderson forced into action as well.

DL-Really like the looks of the two deep for our DLINE. Chapman, Graff, and Newton will only add to that. The future looks great for UK on the DL for the first time in awhile.

Hybrid- I like everything I have heard about Forrest but was suprised to see Simpson first on the depth chart there.

Safety- Lowrey, Neloms and Faulkner are a talented trio. Benton is very solid and dependable. With Dakota Tyler in the mix again and JUCO Kory Brown we do have some bodies here.

K/P- McCintosh is as good as it gets from 35 yards in. Foster will be the punter most likely.

KR/PR- Sweat, Collins, Robinson will all get a shot. Can't be any worse than last year, if they do anything it will be an improvement.

  • My first thought when I look at the OLine is...it's a shame that Eatmon-Nared hasn't worked out at RT b/c that would be some serious beef.

Seconded. I saw BJ get mauled by WKU's defensive ends more times than I cared to count in the first game of the season, and he was at 310 or so. I don't specifically remember seeing it happen to Mitchell, but it's certainly a concern to have two OTs at 295 and 285 this season.

I hope that we see a lot quicker reads out of whoever plays QB this year, as I saw numerous sacks in the WKU and MSU games in particular that were caused by missed blitz and hot reads.

Murphy was injured early in the WKU game and gutted it out because he could stay out there. We didn't have any other OT's to play for him. He was the only OL who came through fall camp healthy and then he injured a knee early against Western.

  • i think u will c alot of two te sets if shields is ready. robinson will likely have to give lots of help to mitchell the key is going to be if smith makes quick reads. and sanders has dial up some screens like joker used to that will slow down the rush and help mitchell alot. theres ways around a average oline. i think r line will be ok in pass blocking its run blocking that is gonna be the question. i think u will c alot of draws and misdirection runs this yr. the problem last yr was newton does not manage games well thats honestly all this offense needs. we people hate on joker and sanders but weve had some great offenses with a 7th rd pick and a undrafted guy at qb. its not the schemes newton prob is great in practice with no rush r pressure some guys r better game managers than others

Agree completely. Really thought as a HS TE that he would be a great fit there. Guess he isnt based on practice.

    UNREADABLE

That text (I suppose it was a form of English) was illegible (unreadable). You may have had good points. I could not get past the second line of gibberish.

    --Hints

1). Learn the concept of proper case sensitivity. While typing in only capital letters on the Internet is considered rude, never using capitals is no less a slight to potential readers.

2). Using paragraphs makes your text user friendly. "Stream-of-Consciousness", is a great concept in Hollywood scripts and some literary works. Please, ....Leave its use to the "masters".

P.S. ....Not to mention the irony that this mess came from a user self-labeled as "quagmire".

  • Will Forrest possibly see some time at WLB. Some have said size is an issue for McDuffen so why have Forrest backing up when he's got the size and speed to play WLB. Just curious to see what you guys that know more than me have to say about that.

Since we are pointing our beefs with other people's writing style, I have to point out the fact that you completely misused the word "irony." biggrin The word your looking for is "apropos" or "appropriate."

For example, "Quagmire's name is apropos considering his muddled writing style." and "It's ironic USMCatFan misused the word irony to point out the shortcomings of another's writing style."

  • You can take off Jacob Russell. He left the team to join the baseball team.

    BBB,
If you read my post in only the most literal sense you would be correct. However, for those who know me and my sarcastic lean on humor, I used irony in the proper context.

    Sincerely (no sarcasm),

BBB is a slave to his craft. Not only does he chide USMC verbally, but carefully hidden in this message are more ironic misspellings and word omissions, obviously sprinkled in the post like the finest seasonings, rounding out the perfect scathing reply.

Also, if Bob points his beef at me, we're gonna have a problem.

  • Back on topic, really loving the SEC size the staff is putting together. It's these little things like an updated depth chart that really get pumped for the season to get here.

I just hope the new linebacking crew is ready to come to play and the depth issues at OL and CB don't rear their ugly head during the season.

    Say what?

Sorry... my post got cut off when I got a call on my smart phone.

What I was going to say... Size doesn't matter as much as pure strength and quickness and arm length. Especially at o-tackle.

Look at the best tackles in the country. They aren't 350 lbs. They're 295-320 and they're TALL... The key to pass protection is to get your hands on the defender before he gets his hands on you.

I've really got to get a handle on this internet sarcasm thing. I guess if I'm going to dish it I better learn to recognize it. In the mean time I'll waive my beef.

Waiving the beef is perfectly acceptable...just don't wave it any of us. Not that kind of a board, good sir.

Got that right. Decide if your base is 3-4 or 4-3, but don't list both. Silly.
