  • The big thing that jumps out at me is only nine seniors on the team next year. 2014 could set up for a very good year with all the players having a full year in the system

  • I was thinking Tyler Robinson has played 3 seasons and will be a SR in 2013?

    ShockeyFork

  • Looks like we need some impact WRs now for Brown's system along with more lineman on both sides of the ball. LB is in better shape than I thought. A star corner wouldn't hurt either, but we are not as bare there as I thought we would be.

You're right. Not sure what I was thinking there. Fixed.

  • After this upcoming season, we will see the end of Brooks' last two recruiting classes, that came back to bite UK big time. I'm not blaming Brooks but with all of the injuries and transfers (much more than usual) that happened early on with those classes, we should have known these last two years would be lite on experience. The only positive is that A LOT of young players got a A LOT of game experience and that should benefit the new staff tremendously by the 2014 season.

  • Lots of the same guys back on the D-Line. Not sure if that's a good thing. You would think Rumph and Cobble in the middle would be better run stuffers. That's just not been the case. Hopefully change in scheme and coaching will help those two. I always thought they had NFL potential, but they still have a lot of work to do. We will need them both to have a big 2013 to be successful.

Love the offense, I think the young wide receivers will thrive under the Brown system. Especially Daryl Collins. I look for him to run all over in the slot. Plenty of depth at RB as well.

GO CATS!!!! Pumped already, love talking UK football in December.

  • There are 13 seniors, not 9. Also, isn't Harmon confirmed to be on scholarship next season? Is that something the old staff promised that the new staff doesn't have to fulfill? Regardless he should be on scholly imo.

I don't know about anyone else, but I find it rather ridiculous that UK only has 6 WR on the roster next year but they have 6 RBs and 5 TEs. Terrible recruiting allotment by the previous staff, especially at tight end.

Not sure how that works but I don't think promises of past staff necessarily have to be honored by new staff. I still wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on scholarship but that might also depend on how much attrition they have and how many incoming recruits they can ultimately sign.

  • What I've noticed is that the defensive front 7 in 2014 is going to be chock full of Sr's and Jr's with way more experience than they should have......should be really awesome.

The offense in 2015 should be dominated by a ton of Seniors at almost every starting position........starters that will have way more playing experience than the should have. Oh, and the defensive secondary will be the same way.

    Good things are a comin'.

But if you notice, four of them are seniors and the other is a junior...

  • Speaking of scholarships how does that work? I thought the SEC had a yearly limit. I saw where Texas A&M had like 34 commitments for next year is that allowed?

  • You can back sign. Meaning if they didn't sign 25 guys in last year's class, then they can sign the difference in this year's class.

  • Pretty sure the Aggies, when joining the SEC, got a waiver to where they didn't have to follow that rule for this signing class. They only signed 19 guys last class and know several of their current commits plan on enrolling early. Sumlin has a lot of momentum rolling right now in Aggie land.

  • Thanks for the info I thought 34 was crazy, to me that will make it harder to have that many freshman, will probably red shirt alot

  • Doesn't Max have to wait until the end of his senior season to apply for a medical redshirt? I thought I read somewhere that this is the rule for medical redshirts. Also, what is the criteria to be able to apply for a medical redshirt? Is it playing in a certain number of games, quarters, minutes? TIA GO CATS!!!

I actually did notice, which further adds to my confusion / frustration. How in the world do you get yourself in a situation where you have 4 senior TE's? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

  • Our depth chart looks horrible. The corner and wr slots almost look like when brooks took over and we only had enough olinemen to lineup during springball. Not sure we have a true SEC DE on the roster, but I realize that is part of Minters 3-4 look.
Minter killed us and I was really one of the idiots that was excited when Brown was let go and Minter was hired.

Not trying to be a downer. I've already called and renewed my season tickets, but taking a second to look at this just brought me a moment of levity on what Stoops has to work with at certain spots.

Don't you think CMS will come to the same conclusion ? Scholarships are renewable year to year. Given our current commits who claim to have confirmed offers from the new staff, and the list of prospects we are rumored to be pursuing, I suspect we will see some encouraged transfers/attrition and sign a full class of 25 .

    70scat

  • The issue with this class is not finding 25 for this year, it's staying under the 85 total scholarship maximum. With the numbers above we have 68 (not including Harmon which absolutely should get one), leaving 17 available. Yes, scholarships are awarded year to year, but how do you tell a kid that his school is no longer paid for after he has been here for three or four years?
