2013 football class..how high can we finish?

  • As Febuary creeps closer and closer...how far do you guys think Stoops can take this..his first class at UK? WE were in the mid 70's..and in less than 3 weeks..Uk has landed 4 star De Za;Darius Smith and 2/3 star TE Steven Borden...jumping Uk to 58th.
    I think we could wind up with a 30's type class.,when all the marbles fall.
    I think we get Ryan Timmons. I think we get Lovell Peterson, and ohio DE Antione Miles.
    WE also should be able to haul in Sean Paul, and perhaps a Lauren Jackson.
    Call me crazy..but I think Stoops got MacKenzie Alexanders attention with the offer of early playing time..and the chance to play both ways as a wr/cb/kr. That kid is one confident guy..he wants to be THE MAN..and at UK..he could be just that..a rockstar in pads. If we land MA..we should by default get his twin..a good player in his own right at saftey. Could help us with 4 star DT Deadrin Senat as well.
    Stoops and Marrow are hard after Courtney Love and Marcus McWilliams..2 highly touted 4 star kids from Cardinal Mooney..will be tough..but we have a shot anyway.
    I think we will get at least one of the TTU verbals..4 star wr Ra'Shad Samples, Rb Daryl Chestnut, and wr Devin Lauderdale. Neal Brown all but guaranteed we were gonna "flip" a couple kids..so..I like our chances here with Samples and Chestnut.
    I love the Marquez Valdes kid..6'3 190 WR..4.4..attacks the ball in the air..dangerous in space..tough, good blocker.
    WE could possibly wind up with 5 to 7 4 star kids in this class. I think at least 4. (Smith,Timmons, Samples,Peterson). The cool thing is anything seems possible now..with this staff.
    Just imagine when this staff gets an entire year to recruit..I really believe we will begin to see lots of top 25 classes..with an occasional Top 15 class here and there. We are coming off a 2-10 season..and with only 2 months to work..and with the dead periods..Stoops will land 4 or more 4 stars..and a 35-40 type class..THIS year.
    Good things are in store for UK football.

  • I think we end up with these guys to close out the class:

    WR - Ryan Timmons
    WR - Javess Blue
    DT - Lauren Jackson
    OT/DT - Maurice Swain
    OT/DT - Lovell Peterson
    CB - Boaz Joseph
    CB - Jaleel Hytchye
    RB - Either Daryl Chestnut or Aregeros Turner
    LB - Yet to be determined .. Possibly one of these: De'Niro Laster, James Clark or George Williams

    I believe we keep 13 of the current commits and add these 9 to end with 22... Since we only have 11 srs next year, that'll leave 3 extra scholls for a total of 14 available, but, thru attrition, we'll likely lose 7-8 more on the current roster, giving us 21--22 for next year, when the staff has a full year to recruit..

    I really like Marquez Valdes..and Timmons at WR. Also want Sean Paul very very bad. That kid can flat hit at CB.
    Id say you guys are both close to what the final product will look like. Im sure there will be a surprise or two..hopefully 4 star surprises!

  • If Stoops can add Ryan Timmons, Lovell Peterson, MacKezie Alexander, Ra'Shad Samples, Jaleel Hytchye, and any one of Senat,Love,McWilliams, Chestnut, ect..this would give Uk 1 5 star recruit and 6 4 star kids..an amazing class considering when Stoops took over we didnt have even 1 4 star..and was ranked in the 70's.

  • I say we end up with a top 40 class but a top 30 class is possible. I believe we'll end up top 30-35 for next yr but of course I'm not taking into account how many we can actually sign in the 2014 class.

  • I think scout and rivals are reporting Jojo Kemp has UK towards top of his list, he is a high 3* and a 4* on ESPN I wonder how serious this is, and would he be a good addition (in terms of remaining scholarships)

  • From the sources I have seen, we have a very legitimate chance to get Kemp.

    Also, he would be very good for us in two ways:

    1. He is a very good APB
    2. Signing him would make it easier to slide Khalid Thomas to CB which would be very good for us.

    I feel pretty good with these guys. Thats 5 guys that are either 4 star or high 3 star recruits, depending which site you look at.

    This number is more realistic then the 9 or 10 recruits that are listed above. Don't get me wrong, I would love for all of them to come but between the numbers we have and the small amount of time that we have had with some of these kids, it would be a miracle to get all of them.

    I agree with you. THe only things that makes me feel like we could get 6 or so 4 stars..is Neal Brown guaranteed Uk was going to flip some recruits..I also like Sean Paul..a 3 star cb that is way underrated. I think we get MacKenzie Alexander..Stoops will let him play WR..CB..KR. Kid wants to be THE man not A Man. Has said I want to be the first MacKenzie Alexander..not the next Deion or Ed Reed or whatever..I might be crazy too..who knows. But with 1 4 star on board..youd guess we get at least 4..its those underrated 3's that will determine if this class is a success.

    I wonder where our class would rank if were to get all of those guys. Maybe top 20-25?
