Mike is a former walk-on that became a student assistant coach. He is currently an assistant coach at Milton High School in Alpharetta, GA (a football factory) and has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. He has a family with young children. Tony Neely provided this information:
Mike Scott begins his third year as a student assistant coach with the
Wildcats. He will assist Guy Morriss with the offensive line and also
coach the offensive line of the new junior varsity team.
Scott, a native of West Chester, Ohio, was a center and guard for the Wildcats
in 1994 before his career was ended by costal chondritis, an
inflammation of rib cartilage and enlarged heart. He began work as a student coach in
the 1995 season. His major is social work and he plans to become a coach.
Scott was a two-year letterman as an offensive tackle for Lakota High School
in West Chester. As a senior, he was named co-winner of the team's Most
Outstanding Lineman Award and also named Greater Cincinnati Athlete of the Week for
his stellar performance in a game against Kettering Alter.
