You mean live updates from highschool basketball off season tournaments full of players we may or may not get or care about is more important than a football season that is rapidly approaching and being discussed by our member conference by our team and teams we will play........absurd (obviously I feel your pain). fingergun

    yep.

how does some aau tourney relate to kentucky basketball? i wouldn't mind the recruits interviews like football gets during basketball season.

but i'm with the OP, come on its less than a month til fall practice is open, and yet the big thing is a summer league for a basketball?? i'd be fine with basically zero basketball coverage in the summer.

but again this is why kentucky has this stigma. do any other SEC schools have basketball articles or coverage whatsoever right now?

    **sigh**

  • I dont have a problem with the football coverage here at CatsPause. This site has the best football coverage of any site that I visit. There is also less of the bashing of the team and fire the coaching staff retoric here than over on the rivals board. I could definately do without some of that retoric.

  • The original post was way off base, IMO. The Cats Pause provides the best beat coverage of any of the UK sites (24/7, Rivals, Scout, BBK, and even the print and online LHL) and it's not even close. Of those three sites, TCP is often the only one with somebody physically present covering practices events, etc. And Matt's coverage of SEC media days was FANTASTIC. As good as I saw surfing the net. If you want good coverage of football, Matt May and Kyle Tucker (of the C-J) are the two guys to follow. Far and away the most in depth coverage.

I dropped my Rivals account when that site's football coverage predictably dried up with the change in publishers. Football fans who are subscribers over there have a legitimate gripe, IMO. They seem to go out of their way to bury football news and cover it as lightly as possible (with all due respect to Ben Jones, who seems like a good guy from stuff of his that I read).

  • WTF is going on around here? Was today "Free Post Day for members of Cats Illustrated" or what? To the OP, hey guy....UK football (you know, the team you claim to support) went YESTERDAY at SEC media days....not today. Joker and the players talked about all kinds of good stuff. Go check it out in the SIX football stories on the homepage.

As for that random "summer league" going on in hoops, the Peach Jam is THE biggest high school hoops event of the year. Umm, yeah....its gonna get some coverage on here. We just won the national championship in hoops, yet the biggest recruiting event of the year still just gets 1 or 2 stories on the homepage, yet that's too much for you b/c you want coverage of today's SEC media days which, unbeknownst to you, did not include UK. GTFO of here with that garbage.

Normally I refrain from complaining about football coverage but today is kind of ubsurd. On the day UK.is up at SEC media days the lead story is about basketball recruiting. Not a commitment but on a summer camp. Really? Come on guys, I love basketball to but concentrate on football today. If it was basketball media days that is all that would be covered. Not saying u shouldn't cover basketball recruiting, it just should not be the lead story.

If you are going to bitch and moan at least have your facts straight slick.

    Maybe not. They suck.

I do not understand why this is such a big deal nor do I understand why it is not understood. Coaches can watch players during summer ball. A lot of offers come during summer ball. A lot of visits get scheduled during summer ball. What exactly do you want them to cover after media day? What is going on between media day and fall ball? Matt is at Media Day. That is the only UK football thing going on right now. You want an article on a recruit visiting? Boaz Joseph visits tomorrow and Chris had an article on him earlier this week. I just do not understand where all this football info that everyone is craving is going to come from. Recruiting articles are always there, but you can not completely ignore UK basketball. Summer ball allows media to talk with recruits that otherwise are impossible to track down. AND you can target more in a shorter period of time.

    Gahhhhh.

  • I love UK football. That is no secret.

I am getting sick of the fans being on the defensive though. By no means has this staff neglected the football team.

  • I'll just never understand the hypersensitivity that some football fans have to basketball. I just won't.

If you're a UK fan, you're a UK fan. Period.

UK's basketball success has nothing to do with football's or lack thereof.

Nevermind him, Josh. He probably thinks the most important and most valuable basketball recruiting comes from scouting the high school games, as opposed to "summer league" AAU tournaments. SMH.

  • This site is designed to give UK Sports news, not just football news at one time of the year and basketball the other times. This site can not and should not be specifically designed for just one type of poster; it's for the fans who like news for all sports (some more than others obviously; most would rather hear about basketball recruiting than Rifle matches). If you don't like it, start your own website. Some people complain just so they can be heard, I guess.

  • First off, the complaint that started this thread is not necessary. We understand you prefer football, that's fine. But these guys are doing the best they can, and they need to cover all of the major sports at the University of Kentucky, and they can't placate to every individual like or dislike.

Plus, the cost of this site is voluntary. To click the link to this site is voluntary. Stop voluntarily going someplace if you don't want to pay for it, and you don't want to view the content it provides.

It is as simple as that.

That's all I have to say to this thread.
