A game of interest this weekend...

  • 8-2 Utah St. (Gary Anderson) @ 9-1 LaTech (Sonny Dykes)

The game is at 4pm EST and will be on ESPN3. Might be worth a watch for UK fans before the Samford game.

Utah St's two losses have been by a total of five points against Wisconsin (16-14) and BYU (6-3).

  • I'll try to tune in on ESPN3 to catch some of that one.

Another game of interest, fresh off of their near miss against the Gators in the Swamp, Mark Hudspeth's Ragin' Cajuns host Western Kentucky Saturday evening.

  • None of these guys are the home run hire that UK needs.

Not sure why that is needed in this thread.

I'd say there are a lot of fans (not me) who really want Dykes. Bottom line is that while Mitch is undoubtedly going after some bigger names we may have to accept that a really good mid-major coach is where we will have to go.

Look at it this way. Of the last few "big" hires in the SEC most have come from interesting locations.

Auburn - Iowa State LOSING coach
Tennessee - LA Tech LOSING coach
Vandy - Fired Offensive coordinator from maryland
    FLorida - D-coordinator from Texas
Miss State - O Coordinator from Florida
    Texas A&M - HC from mid-major Houston
    Ole miss- Mid Major coach

So, as you can see the "average" hire in the SEC isn't a huge name coach with a ton of HC experience. In fact it's usually an up and comer who is either a coordinator at a major program or a hc at a mid-major non bcs conference.

Seems to me that some of you are setting yourself up to claim diaspointment when in fact we will likely be exceeding or doing the same as our peers in our conference.

  • San Jose State (Mike MacIntyre) plays BYU (Bronco Mendenhall)

Let me go ahead and make a prediction, Utah State will win that game with La.Tech

Don't care if you think it's needed or not. It's my opinion and if you don't like it, don't respond! Also none of the guys you posted have had a defense like Dyke's which averages giving up over 35 points a game and 500 yds a game. Good Luck with that in the SEC. So tired of your non-sense Hop!

I don't want dykes. I agree his defenses suck. I'm just pointing out the FACT that of the last 6 or 7 hires in the sec NONE were "big name" coaches.

Sorry if you don't like facts. Not surprised though. They typically don't fit into your agenda.
