You're right that UofL was a down team in regards to talent and coaching; and Strong has done what he was brought in to do: RECRUIT. He is an excellent recruiter but I am not sold on him being a great coach. Look at the last two games, after the blow out loss to Cuse (which can happen to anyone) and then they had two weeks to prepare for UConn and they looked lost on the field even before the Bridgewater injury. I just did not see him prepare well and he had two weeks to do it. Also, UofL has looked worse as the year has gone on, their offense seems to be a roller coster ride. But that could be the sign of a young team.

I think it is too early to call Strong a great coach, that has yet to be seen and I guess we will see tonight and good luck.

I agree. A few of the calls were head scratchers last week and the team came out really flat. Great recruiter. Jury is out on his abilities as a head coach.

  • You can't argue that Strong has done a good job at Louisville. That said, I do think it is still easier to turn Louisville into a winning football team than it was for Joker to take UK from a .500 team to an 8 or 9 win team. You are talking Big East football vs. SEC football. Kind of like comparing Big East Bball from 2 years ago to SEC bball. You can't compare the two because they are that far apart.

That said, I am also still not sold on the fact that Strong is going to be a great coach. You can say what you want about him not being able to interview well, or whatever you want to come up with. And while it may be true, I cant shake the fact that he had interviewed for quite a few jobs and was always passed up on. Then all of a sudden, he became this knock out interview? Like I said, that very well could be the case and he might turn out to be the next Nick Saban for all we know. Time will tell.

  • Strong should go to bed every night and thank his Lord and Savior that Teddy Bridgewater came to play football for him. Outside of Teddy I'm not impressed. Teddy has saved his ass time and time again this season and they've played a terrible schedule. They can't stop Big East teams. For a coach that is supposed to be a defensive mastermind that is not good. His defenses at Loserville have gotten gradually worse. He had better D's with Kragthorpe's players. Like I said without Teddy that team is struggling to go .500 in the Big East but they do have Teddy so they're going to the Orange Bowl. Thank your Lord and Savior Strong. Thank Clint Hurtt. Thank whoever you got to. And you get out while the gettin is good.

I don't know..defense gave up a couple of long pass plays for scores last night but was otherwise pretty stout. Receivers made some clutch catches also. Team is loaded with young talent. In my mind, CCS woukd be a fool to leave.

If he could get into a job like Arkansas or Auburn? No, he'd be a very smart man to leave.

    BlueGhost

  • I free, he'd be crazy to pass on an Auburn level job. Who knows, though. He has a good thing going there at UL and maybe he's content to stay there.
And Bridgewater... damn that guy is good. He could barely run or catch snaps or hand the ball off bc of a gimpy ankle and broken leg.

    BigTyrone

  • You guys are acting like uofl beat Alabama last night. They beat a very average Rutgers team that played beyond awful in the second half. Rutgers GAVE uofl TWO int's... Gave them.... Bridgewater is good but uofl will get drilled by fsu.

I have no idea if strong will leave. If he had a conversation with auburn I suspect he will.

Why ? Hired to be fired? Money is no issue. He can recruit in Florida. His path to the national championship is much easier.

You actually believe UL in the ACC has a 'path to the national championship' and that it is easier than what he would inherit coaching at Arkansas, Auburn, or Tennessee? That is a serious thought you've contemplated in your head?

    Jesus Christ that's stupid.

Absolutely. Easier to win the ACC. Your path to a national championship is much easier than Arkansas and Auburn. Also, you lose four or five games a year there and, poof..out the door you go.

If auburn or Arkansas were in the acc then yes. It's an easier path. But it's Louisville. Louisville could sell that they were in a bcs conference for almost a decade and could never get to a bcs title game with the joke big east. They lost to two bad big east teams this year. Uofl will struggle to go . 500 In their first year of being in the acc.
They will struggle to win the big east next year with the addition of Boise state.

If fsu and other stay in the acc uofl is middle of the road. If fsu and others leave then the acc becomes a joke like the big east.

It depends on what you mean by easy. Look at this year--if FSU or Clemson were perfect right now, they might be in line for the national title game. I'm not sure, but I still think Bama or Georgia would be Notre Dame's opponent. But clearly it would take a perfect season in the ACC to get that far.

If the power teams (FSU, Clemson, and Miami) leave, it'll be much much harder to even get the shot, whereas in the SEC you can take a loss and maybe two (as with LSU a few years back) and win a national title. So in the ACC or Big East, it's clearly easier to win all your games, but there's so much more beyond your control to get a national title shot.

  • I love that you guys just hired a coach and the two main topics on CatsPause are about Louisville.

    COcard

  • Hired to be fired? Auburn has had 4 HCs in the last 32 years. That's an average of 8 years per coach.

Also, what the other guys said. Auburn has won several NCs, as has Tennessee. Arkansas even has one. Louisville hasn't even sniffed the title game. Evidence says it is much harder to win the NC at Louisville than at any SEC school other than UK or Vandy.

I love that you guys just had a big win, are going to a bowl, just got invited to the ACC and may soon lose your coach.... yet, here you are on CatsPause being a jackass. You troll over here and have the nerve to make a post like THAT? So ironic... and hysterically funny.

Just so that your simple-minded retarded ass may (possibly) understand what is "so ironic"... I will try to explain (in elementary terms):

You make an idiotic wisecrack about us having two "topics" (as if we are so consumed with Tard news)... while YOU (dumbass) are on an ENTIRE F**KING "WEBSITE" ... dedicated to all that is KENTUCKY WILDCATS!!! Now tell me... who's more consumed with who here?

You are drastically underestimating the very young talent on the UofL roster.

You should change your post to reflect what you really mean:

The ACC is an easier conference than the SEC. That's the only valid point to be made.

We are talking about actual jobs at actual schools and rating their chances to win a NC. Not arguing over which is the easier conference.

Auburn won a NC two years ago. The SEC is likely on its way to its 7th NC in a row. FSU has the ACC's most recent NC, from 1999.

So, the argument that UL in the ACC is more likely to win a NC than Auburn, Tennessee, or Arkansas in the SEC falls flat on its face.

However, all of this assumes that Coach Strong is highly desired by any of the three, which is debatable.
