Nothing personal, but I have a hard time rectifying the words good read, and Pete Thamel in the same sentance!

I could be totally wrong about this, but I really think that this whole thing of Wiggins hating the spotlight is a bunch of smoke and mirrors. I've heard from and read about numerous people how at the basketball games like Hoopfest and stuff down in KY where hundreds of people clamored for an autograph or picture from him, and he didn't turn down a single UK fan. And besides, if he went to FSU he would be seen as the sole savior of the program, and he potentially could be pressured to stay another year. At UK, not only would he not be tripled teamed night in and night out, but he would also be blending in with other 5-6 future NBA prospects with bright futures of their own to share the spotlight with, and where he could further showcase his skills. Look at Anthony Davis, he was (and is) an incredible talent, but there was also attention being given to Jones, Teague, MKG etc. And speaking of MKG, coming into college he didn't particularly like the spotlight as well, but the staff and university went out of their way to make him more comfortable because of his speech impediment, but all that did was prepare him for the next level. The same staff will have no problem doing that for Wiggins. I could go on about why he should wear blue and white for his one year in college, but I won't. He very well could go to FSU, but I truly believe he would be doing himself no favors by going there. And another thought, if it was SO important for him to go to FSU, why wasn't there much of a fuss over his brother Nick Wiggins attending there? From what I understand his brother isn't great, but he is good and can ball. Just my two cents anyway.

I'm sure FSU feels good about their chances and they should. It's one of only two schools that Wiggins is considering, his parents went there, etc. I get all that.

But I've never felt like the fact that XRM is there is a big deal. Doesn't hurt FSU. But doesn't help all that much IMO. With all due respect to XRM, who is a great kid, this recruitment is a lot bigger than him.

By the way, I for one take Wiggins scoring 57 points last night as a sign he didn't much appreciate Thamel's article

Yep. 24 of 28 shooting and 13 rebounds.

I guess what impressed me the most about him scoring 57 points was that his teammates pulled together to help him get those pts and send a unified message to Thamel that if you rag on one of us you have to deal with all of us. That is so opposite of how Shabazz acted in his game when his teammate Drew hit the winning shot at the buzzer.

I dont think that Wiggins is selfish at all but just a quiet kid that loves to play ball. He has a lot on his plate right now and will for some time to come. I dont know too many people who would like to be asked 200-300 times per day where are you going to school and having tons of requests for autographs and/or a photo. Not being able to just go out and play ball w/o being hounded by everyone about everything. It would really get to me very fast. I would have commited real early so that part of the whole thing would be over and the # of questions would slow up. I bet when he makes up his mind and announces he will feel like an elephant has been lifted off his shoulders, but unfortunately it will then start all over only about the time between college and the NBA.
