Any good FB recruiting news after this weekend?

    You hit the nail on the head, I really don't know what RV is thinking at times. I've bought two college pre-season mags and UK FB/Joker is talked of badly in both. And guess what UofL are picked to win the BIg East and are in the top 25... That sucks. I really wish things would improve under Joker I guess we will have to wait and see. It sucks that so many good players have got away... Just imagine if Dawson, Davis and a couple other good instate players would have signed... We would be a very different looking team right now. Joker or whoever ends up being the coach has to find away to land more of those types of kids. 6'3 215# LB's will never get it done at ILB during SEC play. It's a shame that Western KY probably has a better group of LB's than us... Something else that bugs the hell out of me is the fact that I really think WKU spends more on recruiting than we do. They have more NR and 3 star players on their board than us... They should never have half as many quality prospects than us...

    People can say what they want but I'll take a winning coach with bad morals over this stuff anyday, and I like Joker, I just can't believe it has got this bad in only a few months...

    Some can say what they want but I really believe "T" recruited alot more players than he got credit for... I can not believe it's June and we only have 1 in the 13 class. Another thing that's killing me is the fact that Joey Bloomfield and a couple more instate kids aren't already cats... I'm sorry for bitching but I hate getting on here everyday and seeing we haven't landed anyone. Sorry for my ranting, this sucks though.

    Yeah it was bad. People just need to relax and see what happens this year. If it doesn't work out then we'll be looking elsewhere but so far not one game has been played this year.

    Exactly...rough season and we will more than likely be looking for a new coach...could unite the fanbase, and I think that coach would have plenty of talent to get off to a decent start.

    Good season and everyone becomes happier and the fanbase would united again for the most part...Joker would have some momentum and recruiting would improve...

    This year is most likely make or break for Joker...but the program as a whole looks to be in pretty good shape moving into 2013 and beyond.

  • Todd's post have always been like that. I can't even read them half the time because the grammer and spelling is so bad I am not sure what he is saying.

    I don't like when people post negative stuff all the time, but I will typically read the argument. But if you sound like an 8 year old, well that is a different story.

    This is my attitude. Projecting how bad the team is going to be based on last year's embarrassing losses, or a lack of commits (in May!) and projecting how good rivals will be based upon last year's results and several commits (in May) may be interesting as an academic exercise, but the frothing rabid conclusions some people are using these projections to cultivate are useless.

    We have 12 games to play, beginning Sept. 02 on ESPN. Can we at least wait for the first snap of the first game before predicting how horrible we will be?

    There are 8 months left in this recruiting cycle. Can we at least wait until 30-60 days prior to signing day before talking about how no-one will sign with us and how it's "gotten so bad in the last few months?"

    Most of these posts are what I would expect to see in January after an embarrassing 8 loss season. Not in May, months after ending a horrific streak and showing significant improvement on defense (opp. avg. 12 ppg last 3 games) while playing true freshmen at every level. Not to mention watching a spring game where receivers, by and large, actually caught the ball which we can all agree was a horrendous problem last year.

    If you believe that, for example, UL showed significant improvement over its final 6 games (5-1), and you are using that as fodder to predict how good they will be, can you at least give some credit to UK for showing improvement over its final 3 (2-1) and stop frothing at the mouth about how bad it has gotten?

    Valid points in the rest of your thread.

    This part I'm going to disagree with.

    UK beats a horrible UT team. While they played a good game at UGA, they got their assess handed to them at Vandy.

    Now, the Big East isn't a great conference but UL does win at WVA and wins on the road at UConn(not an overly great team) and beat a nice USF team on the road.

    Based on this I would say UL finished much stronger than UK.

    Was it an accidental ommission that you failed to mention the egg that UofL laid in their bowl game against a middle of the ACC NCSt team their last game of the season?

  • UL did lose their bowl game, no question about it.

    but they PLAYED in a bowl game. and more ominously for us, got those extra 15 practices for their young roster while ours got none this past December.

    While I concede that the WVU win was more impressive than any of our wins last year, this is nonsense.

    UT might have been "horrible" last year, but a 5-7 Big East team that lost to Western Michigan is not something to point to if you want to demonstrate a "not overly great" team.

    I'll leave it with this......most of the people who downplayed our win against UT had said going in that UT would kick our ass. They turned out to be dead wrong, and instead of giving UK credit, chose instead to disparage UT, I suppose to make them feel better about how wrong they were....

    For many of those wondering about why kids aren't committing to the program they only need to look in a mirror. Those that help continue the swirling negativity around the program and continue to cast doubt on the viability of the staff are the biggest part of the problem facing the staff's ability to sign kids at this point in time.

    Total BS and just another excuse. Look at the W/L record instead.

  • Nothing I said is made up, UofL is a top 25 team by most sites and services. As far as bad grammer and spelling, again this is the net i'm not going to spell check everything I post sorry. You can act like everything is fine all you want, the truth is we have a decent group of Fresh/Soph but for a SEC team to climb the ladder good classes have to be put together every year and as of right now i'm not sure Joker is going to be able to do that. Not offering Joey B, Harris and a few other kids is a big mistake. And like I said it seems like we have less options than almost anyone we play. You can deny facts around the program all you want, I also don't always post negative stuff all the time that's your opinion. One thing we all want is for UK to get back to 7/8+ wins a season and right now that doesn't seem possilbe when looking around the SEC and HC's... No need to try to make it persona because it upsets you how things seem to be looking on the recruiting front.

    I'll admit I like reading Todd's posts when they're about recruits or analyzing specific players. But when it comes to discussions on the state of the program and whatnot it gets bad. I'll just stick with bad instead of other choice words like stupid or ignorant.

    who was the HC that brought in the Fresh/Soph group that you call decent? yeah, that's right Joker who you want gone and take a million pot shots at.

    This is freaking June 1st... We have a limited number of ships to give out and are being selective. There is NO reason to hit the panick button when it comes to recruiting especially when there are a ton of articles out there where the recruits are talking positively about UK, the coaches, and the camp that they just had.

  • So, the thread starts asking for recruiting information coming out of UK's showcase camp. It devolves, yet again, into a pissing match about how awful the UK football program is and how great the UofL program is. WOW!!! It's getting increasingly harder to stomach it here. BTW, every recruit, I stress EVERY, thought highly of UK and its facilities coming out of the showcase last weekend. Lighten up Legion of Doom.

  • UK offered the 4-star LB from Dayton, Darrien Howard, and he put us in his top 5. He plans on making a decision prior to the start of his season. That is positive!!!

    Todd's opinion of his own ability to evaluate players is overly optimistic. He is conflating his admiration for a few players with some perceived failure of the coaching staff to see the things he sees. This leads him to make these posts about the "mistakes" the staff is making, based upon his perception of his own ability to evaluate recruits.

    Top 25 by most services = nothing. We've made bowls in 5/6 years. We were down last year. You guys are praying for a self fulfililng prophecy.
