Not sure what you're trying to say. They are friends, so maybe Strong was trying to be a good sport and protect his friend, or maybe something more sinister like assure that Joker stays on at UK so UL can continue to beat us every year. Is the latter what you are implying?

Probably a little of that, and a little of not wanting to risk injury to Teddy bear.

Kind of looked like Strong was trying to take it easy on Joker, and maybe throwing Stein a bone. Classy gesture if that's indeed what he was doing.

Doing it when he did was WAAAAAAY worse than if he had left Teddy in the game. We had just walked down the field and scored to make it a relatively close game and we had the momentum....and it was just the middle of the 3rd quarter. Strong doesn't hesitate in pulling Teddy and replacing him with his 5'10" (if that) backup QB as if to say: "Meh....who cares? We got this." He never blinked and it had to be deflating to Joker deep down inside.

Bear in mind, had Stein performed half as well as he did in the few games he started last season, the rout would have continued. He looked shell shocked and scared out there, which probably causes huge concern in UofL coaches.

His play deflated momentum, rubber-arming that easy third down pass on his first series. So, no, Charlie may have slowed the damage but he was not enamored with what happened. The blame for the apparent "graciousness" could as easily rest on today's weak shoulders of Stein.

And having said that, the tenor of things was getting ragged which is when guys get hurt. Protecting Teddy is always wise.

Strong wasn't kidding when he proclaimed last year "We're taking the Govenors Cup home and they'll NEVER win it again". With a roster comprised of only 10 seniors and legiate NFL caliber players at many positons (whom are mostly sophmores), it's hard to see UK beating UL anytime soon.

UK's best hope is that Strong leaves and Jurich makes a bad coaching hire. That's the only way UK has been able to compete. Lets face it, had Petrino remained at UL and they didn't replace him with the worst coach in all of college football (Kragthorpe), UK probably wouldn't have beaten them a single time since then.

Not odd at all. As Bridgewater goes, so goes UaVel. Stein is a competent QB. No risk at all in turning the game over to him. I will say however, that if Coshik doesn't fumble and we make it 32-21, Bridgewater is back in on the next series.
