I for one am very happy to see all these facility upgrades to other sports. So in the past ten years we will have a new Track and Field Stadium, new softball stadium, new soccer stadium, renovation of nutter field house and practice fields, new basketball practice facility, new wildcat lodge, renovation of the shively sports center (baseball and track and field/cross country team locker rooms, coaches offices, lounges, and weight room), and countless other locker room/team lounge renovations of other sports. I guess things down the road are a new baseball stadium, indoor tennis center renovations, Commonwealth stadium renovations, new rifle facility, and new golf facility. If Mitch Barnhart were to tackle all these facility issues by the time he's done He would probably go down as the best athletic director we've ever had (Yes even though football struggles, it has always struggled). Also here are the renderings and plans for the new softball facility and the preliminary drawings for the new soccer stadium.

    IMO, getting the national title
    And three bowl
Victories along with the unprecedented Olympic sports success puts Barnhart at the top of the list. When he finishes the facility upgrades he gets elevated to legendary status. In reality, we've had some awful ad's in the last 40 years at uk.

Looks pretty good. Definitely worthy of hosting the 2013 SEC tourney; that will bring in a decent chunk of change.

  • - new rifle facility......

As a former Jarhead, I have the greatest admiration for anyone that can "hold 'em and squeeze 'em". I find it very satisfying that we have a perennial Top 5 rifle team. This was the first Olympics in memory that UK didn't have a shooter on the team. My fantasy (after a big PowerBall win) was to make a major donation to cover the new recruiting room and upgrades to the rifle team.

  • Any chance with all these new facilities that UK can host tourneys that help generate some money from these sports? It would be good for UK and good for Lex businesses.
