Attention TGH.......re Wiggins

  • Todd, regardless of which school Wiggins selects, do you think he'll make the choice this Fall or wait until Spring? Still feel good about UK's chances here? Hearing anything else on Randle? Thanks.

Im not Todd but I can tell you that Wiggins will make his decision in the spring. He stated he wanted to take his official visits 1st then make the big decision. On Randle he too will choose in the spring with a couple of national bloggers saying Fla. and Texas were the new leaders for him, but I dont believe that considering the relationship Randle has with Cal and the fantastic in home visit and official vivit he had at BBM. I think Chris would agree with that but Im not speaking for him just guessing he would agree.

  • Wiggins reclassifying will play a huge factor in this recruitment now. Cal will have to decide which guy he wants the most and then focus on that recruit until he can secure a committment. Our 13 class is really good but we need at least one of the remaining top players out there to round this class out. For me I hope Cal goes all out for Andrew and shows him that UK is the place for his talent. Andrew is just so talented and his defensive skills are already at a high level, plus his offensive skills are also at a high level and he's only 17. He could grow a little more but if he doesn't he could be the type of scorer that we've needed since Mash played at UK. Mash scored at will his junior season and could go inside and out the same for Wiggins plus if Andrew had to he could play PG because he has decent handles as well. Wiggins is just a great talent and playing multiple positions and being able to defend them as well makes Andrew the player I want and I think Cal would choose him over the others as well.

Cal is going to go after Wiggins and Randle aiming to get both not one or the other. They don't affect each other at all. In fact you could make the case that getting one could help get the other.

I couldnt disagree more. I think KY gets only 1 of the 2 you mentioned with the priority being Wiggins. Wiggins could play the 4 spot and just look what he did to Randle when they played this past summer. Dont get me wrong getting both would be out of this world but its just not going to happen that way and dont forget Gordon is still in the picture but not as much as Randle and Wiggins but I have wondered what Cal would do if Randle or Gordon said they wanted to come to KY before Wiggins makes his intentions known.cheers

  • He will take their committments even with Wiggins being so talented either of those gives UK a team that will make a serious run at the NCAA. Plus if UK doesn't land Wiggins he's going to FSU where UK probably doesn't even have to play in 13. Cal would take the committment for sure but if it were me, I would wait because I really want Andrew at UK I think he can play mulitple positions and would probably play the three not the four, have Wiltjer play the four and watch out. Undefeated isn't out of the question and Kyle will probably be a four year player even though I love his game right now he just isn't ready for the NBA. He still needs to get stronger and quicker but everyone loves Zellar at IU and they should but Kyle has a great skill set and if he would rebound at a higher level I would put him right there with Zellar talent wise. But I think most would agree that if Randle said coach I'm ready then Cal would say welcome aboard.

Most of the insiders who I've trusted for years continue to state that Wiggins' and Randle's recruitments don't affect each other at all. The staff is still pushing hard for both and will take their commitments in either order. I'll continue to believe in the opinions that I've trusted and who've been proven to have solid insights into what's going on until they don't come through.

Keep the faith ... the Harrisons, Young, Lee, Wiggins, Randle and Willis.

Just 1 more thing to say "I hope you are right" that would be the best recruiting class ever and maybe the best for a very long time.

  • I'm convinced there's little chance that Wiggins ends up anywhere but Kentucky.

It appears Randle is gonna be the tough one.

Gotta convince Randles people that he doesnt need 20+ shots a game to be a top 3 pick.

Cal will also have to figure out how to combat the angle that Randle will have a better chance of over taking Wiggins playing on another team. And honestly That angle is probably the truth. But it's also probably true that barring injury no one in that class has much of a chance of overtaking Wiggins as the eventual #1 pick.

His best chance to win is at Kentucky. Florida will be good but they won't have the pieces that we will. And Barnes is a perennial under achiever. He did however coach one of the top 2 players in the world.(Durant is 2nd only behind Lebron IMO).

In normal circumstances I would say no way. But this is not normal. Cal is the greatest recruiter of all time.

  • 2013 is setting up to be another dominant run by a Calipari coached UK team. Thats gonna be with or without Julius Randle. Wiggins I believe will be on board based on the people I listen to.

  • I don't see Wiggens and Randle as an either or situation. They could play together very easily, but I do see Randle and Gordon as either or and I would prefer Randle.

  • Clearly Randle and Wiggins aren't either/or.

I clearly hope you are correct but I think it may very well be a Randle or Wiggins choice not by Cal but by the players. Wiggins would be my 1st priority but I would still stay on Randle heavily and certainly wouldnt give up on Gordon and see what turns out. I understand why a lot of people are saying its not an either/or when it comes to Randle and Wiggins but I just cant see both coming but I hope they do.

Sorry brother haven't been on the boards all weekend.

As of right now Wiggins, Randle, and Gordon are wanting to all wait till the spring. Honestly, I haven't really heard a definitive time table on any of them besides they want to wait till sometime in the spring.

As for Wiggins, UK is still in the same place with him as they have been and everyone should feel really good with where things stand. As of right now I would be very surprised if AW doesn't end up at UK.

I know other schools are getting into the mix with Wiggins recruitment, but most of those schools recruitment is half ass at best. Yes, they are now "recruiting" him but they are not really recruiting him. AW will take some visits and say all the right things moving forward, but until I hear a really big change on things I feel pretty good he will be a CAT. I will say this too, I'm not going to come on here and respond to every little quote, visit, or story that comes out on AW over the next few months UNLESS I think it has some real merit. If you don't see me respond, then just assume everything is status quo.

MinterWonderland - From now on why don't you call/text a brother if you want the latest. That or come hang out in Lex with me! ;) PhiAlpha

Oh I agree they could play together very easily but thats not what Im saying. Im saying the players 1 or the other may deem the 2013 class too crowed for them(Wiggins/Randle) not that they couldnt play together. Gordon on the other hand is definately an either/or type of situation. I hope we get Wiggins and Randle but I just cant see it.
