Auburn fans in complete meltdown over one loss to ranked team.

  • My best friend is an Auburn Fan atic. He has been in complete meltdown mode since Auburn lost to Clemson (a ranked team) on the road. He and several of his Auburn buddies are calling for the immediate firing of their defensive coordinator.

They want him gone now, not at the end of the season. They are coming off of a National Title year and they all knew it was going to be a rebuilding year for them. However, they refuse to accept any mediocrity whatsoever. Their fanbase demands performance from the players and the coaches. When it doesn't happen to their liking they let everyone know about it. They don't care who hears it.

They are not even willing to let the guy go through the season and try to improve, they want him gone now.

I don't think it is too much for Kentucky fans to demand a better product. One that competes in it's league.

We shouldn't have to wait four years to give it a chance, especially when a coach has been here for years already and has been a coach in waiting.

His years have already been given, and the second they took over the program went into a rapid free fall.

  • If you ask me they are a bunch of idiots.

  • Have you guys actually watched Auburn play? The could easilly (and should be) winless. Period. Rebuildig year...yes, but have they played well well below theory abilities...no question. They did lose a lot, but they still have real and serious talent on that team, both sides of the ball. I'm not at all a fan of mid season coaching firings, it hurts more than helps IMO, but Auburn, has again IMO, no doubt played seriously below their talent level.

You are right. Chizik now has 3 recruiting classes on campus and the talent is there. That defense is horrendous. He needs to take charge or he's going to be on the hot seat.

Just because you win a NC, doesn't mean you take days off. Ask Phillip Fulmer.

  • By this logic, since Cal has had 2 #1 recruiting classes and has had the likes of Cousins, Wall, and many others and has not won a National Championship he should be fired. After all UK is a BB Tradition. Now good luck finding anybody that believes that is true.

That isn't the same logic what so ever. . . We went from not making the tournament, to an elite 8, to a final 4. . . Cal is producing, with pretty much a brand new team every year. . .

I think the point of this thread is just to show all of the people that are "Captain Positive" all of the time, that this stuff is normal on message boards and from fans all over the south and the country. . . If you just sit back and hope it gets better, then nothing is going to change. . .

  • The negativity on this site is only by a handful of posters, and from what I've seen every post they make is negative. If you gave them a free car they would complain about the color. It's just the way they choose to live their lives and I accept that for what it is.

The entire world has turned negative...but it's the world we live in. Luckily I keep my feathers numbered for such an occassion!

Just like UK, lost their playmakers. Not easy to recover so quickly, even when you're a program with as much talent as Auburn.

The problem with Auburn is, if they hadn't bought THE playmaker last season, Chizik's rear end would be on a much hotter seat.

He is in year three. They are expected to have a steady flow of playmakers. They won't always field a Top 10 team, but there is no excuse for Auburn to have such a pourous defense. I don't care how many playmakers they lost.

The fact that they lost a ton of talent on offense and are still putting up points goes to show that the right coach can get production.

  • Ted Roof's defense hasn't been exactly overwhelming in 3 years. The Barners D has been ranked:

    2009 - Total D (68th) Scoring D (77th)
    2010 - Total D (60) Scoring D (53rd)
2011 so far - Total D (110th) Scoring D (92nd)....and would be ranked lower if not for facing the team that is ranked DEAD LAST in total offense and scoring in FAU last week. They gave up 14 points to FAU, which had scored a whopping 3 points in their 1st two games.

Talent on hand? Maybe not quite as much as some might think, but on the 2 deep chart, the Barners go like this:

    DE - 4 stars (2) 3 stars (2)
    DT - 4 stars (2) 3 stars (2)
    LB - 4 stars (2) 3 stars (3) 2 stars (1)
    CB - 4 stars (1) 3 stars (3)
    S - 4 stars (1) 3 stars (3)

IMO it's better talent than the results have shown so far.....

  • Some UK fans went into meltdown the first game we played and won....so not so sure "some" of our fans are any better. Auburn lived the dream with Cam. Now it's back to reality. Comments on the negative posters ... for a select few on here and on other forums it is like a contest to see who post the best negative smart * comment. It's getting old. If you're that disgruntled, move on and jump on a a teams band wagon that pleases you, but stop ruining the forums for everyone else. We are all entitled to our opinions, but when all you post is negative, it might be time to push your chair back away from the table.

Well put. Some need to certainly take that advice. Just like they are so "tired" of being fans of a non-competitive team, I am "tired" of reading their *****.

Go whine to your wives people!!

  • Looks like Zeke Pike will have a hand in on the Auburn rebuilding process if they don't get turned around buy the end of this season, or next.
He mau end up being a target of all yjay frustration. Hell! He could have done that here!

Patrick Towles looks to be THE MAN to carry Jokers torch.

They gave up points in buckets last year. Heck, UK hung 34 on 'em. Arkansas 43. Georgia and Ole MIss 31.

  • Without Cam Newton last season, I think Auburn goes 7-5, 6-6. He did so much for that team and as Jeff said, defense didn't pull its weight most of the time.
