I think technically that Hood will be listed as just a senior next year. He has not applied for a red-shirt year and apparently he will wait until after next season to determine if he wants to use the red-shirt option to gain another year of eligibility. He will obviously discuss this with Cal.

Kentucky coach John Calipari told the media today that junior guard Jon Hood will be redshirted after missing this season with a torn ACL. The Madisonville native tore the ligament during a non-contact drill in August and there was some faint hope that he’d be able to heal and make a return before the end of the season.

Hood averaged 0.8 points and 0.7 rebounds and appeared in 33 of UK’s 38 games last season as a sophomore.

But when you actually read about last year's recruits, early it was a different story. AD admits to wondering if he would even go D-1, and if you remember people really wanted C.J. Leslie and how upset some were, saying thank god we got MKG. And how good can a white kid be that he signs without even being on campus. There were alot of question marks in last year's class when it first came together but look what they did. I expect no less from this group and whoever else signs with us before this recruitment time is over.

CJ Leslie was in the Knight, Jones, Lamb, Poole class. But yes people really wanted him. But we got Jones in that class. Hard to see both those guys going to the same school. We got the better player IMO.

Last years class was really strong in general and I think this class is a little weaker. Probably more like the 2010 class. Bottom line though we got 3 gems in this class. Alex and Archie both have the size, length, and skills at their positions to be matchup problems and some say Noel is the best shot blocker to come down the pipe in a long time. I also think Noel will surprise some people with his offensive abilities. He's not gonna shoot jumpers like Davis but he can still run the floor, and get lob dunks all day long. Cauley-Stein is an intriguing prospect as well. He's got a lot of upside. I'd imagine Robic will be working a lot with him. When he gets stronger and commits to being the best player he can be we're looking at a guy that can really be one of the staffs greatest accomplishments. His size and length are off the charts.

Bennett is really important. Everybody thinks UF is leading but its possible UK can make a push late. Cal is known as a guy that will slow play kids and come on at just the right time to sway a kid to come to UK.

Bottom line we've got a lot of talent and it will be up to the staff to form them into a team.
