Bad football rumors

  • I'm not looking for reasons to bash, but the "sunshine pumpers" have every excuse in the world, but what they fail to realize when we lose guys like Henderson, is we lose quality depth. Depth is what it takes to win in the SEC more than talent! Depth is what we never have at UK! It's easy to say he wasn't a good enough player after the fact, but Joker's and co recruited and signed him. Some of you always have an excuse as to why the coaches aren't doing anything wrong.

    I didn't say it would make or break the team, but Henderson has legit SEC size. If he was a classic tweener in this defense, why the heck did we recruit him in the first place?
    I'm not typically calling for anyone's head, but I do think the coaches should be held accountable. Everything is not rosy in UK fb right now.

    YOU RECRUIT PLAYERS HOPEING THEY WILL GROW INTO THERE ROLE THAT YOU RECRUITED THEM FOR. HE DID NOT. EVERY COACH HAS THIS SAME PROBLEM. LOOK LETS BE FARE HERE. UK HAS VERY LITTLE IN STATE TALENT TO MOVE THE PROGRAM FORWARD. UK WILL HAVE ITS UPS AND DOWNS. I DO NOT CARE IF YOU BRING BEAR BRYANT BACK. UK WILL HAVE A HARD TIME WINNING ON A EVERY YR BASES. MITCH HAS SPENT MORE MONEY ON THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM THAN ANY OTHER AD IN THE LAST 30 YRS. HE CANNOT JUST SAY OK LETS SPEND 100 MIL ON THE PROGRAM.
    HE TRIED TO GET MONEY REMEMBER ???? THE STATE SAID NO. GIVE THE PEOPLE ABOVE HIM HELL NOT HIM OR JOKER.

  • It is sad that Henderson is gone, when he was a freshman he seemed like he had a bright future, I just wish I knew what was really said between he and Chuck...

    Delic is another story, Delic is almost the ideal "5-tech" but do to lack of depth they were going to try to use him in the 3 tech, he was behind Rumph, Tristian Johnson, Alvin Davis... Do not think for a second that he if he woud have stayed 4th string by this fall. He would have passed two of those guys up by mid season at the latest. When Delic showed up he was as Joker said "by far the strongest freshman on the team" and "one of the most developed freshman i've ever seen", he was in the 2 deep at Strong End when the season started and seemed to be a future stall-wart in the program. I don't have a man crush nor do I worship players like some do (which is fine) but Delic wasn't running 4th team because he was the 4th best at that position, he was running 4th string because he quit and just now got back in good graces with Joker and in time he would have easily climbed back up in the 2-3 deep. Same as Crawford did, Crawford was listed behind those same other two guys but when we played GA and other SEC team by mid season he was 2nd team behind Cobble. We all know Joker tries to run the program right and for the most part he does a good job, he couldn't have just said OK Delic "I know how much potential you have so i'm going to put you on the 2nd/3rd string"...

    Delic was probably one of the most talented D-lineman on the team as a freshman, and could have returned to form maybe even got better in a matter of 5 or 6 months. Would he have done well as a 3 tech? Probably not, because he isn't 280# like listed, he's more like 260 and at 6'5 he's still about 10-15# shy "in solid mass". Would he have done well at Str End behind Douglas and Ukwu? Heck Yea, I think there was even a chance if he kept his nose clean that he could have played 20-30 quality snaps a game which could have been huge, we all know Ukwu or Douglas could get hurt at any time, Ukwu is hurt right now...

    Whoever said the difference between us and the rest the SEC is depth, you are right for the most part. Loosing Delic does hurt, loosing Henderson hurts to but from what i've saw at practice, Fan Day, and last year Henderson, just about has to be one of those kids that are a product of numerous combine showings. I know that may be mean but that's the impression I got, or he could be one of those classic mis-projections meaning a beast in HS then just doesn't live the lifestyle or have the discipline to eat like you have to too add quality muscle and develop. To be honest I think we have a few more of those "mis-projections" on the team, one is a 150# WR. I don't have anything against the kids but there has been a couple things that make me scratch my head. Getting rid of Delic because of something he done doesn't bother me at all, all staffs have to handle their buisness and lay down the law. The punishment should fit the crime, my problem with Joker is with recruiting. I'll leave it at that.

    Vs other major programs are "attrition" is less than what other programs face.

    The agenda driven drama amongst some fans whe latch on to any report to bash our program is beyond annoying.

    Remember the "smith has surgery on eye after fight" drama on here a month ago? Turns out that was false. Not saying this is false but give the drama a rest plz.

    FYI...I don't know where you get your information, but it is false.

    The Maxwell Smith fight/surgery story is very true.

    Obviously, Hoptown is a long way from Lexington.

    The bigger loss is Delic. I was really happy when he decided to come back because you can never have too many big guys on the DL.

    Henderson was the classic tweener. Too small for DE and Too slow for LB. There is just too much talent ahead of him. But I wish him nothing but the best because it seemed like he was good kid. Always talked positive about UK and had a big mototr.

    Delic was a goner when he left the first time. Guys that leave school & (try to) come back rarely, rarely do much.

  • he was recruited in a 43 scheme. how would the staff no a kid who weighed 238 in highschool would not be able to gain weight. it happens some kids cannot add the needed weight strength for this level.

    I don't know how they would know, but it's their job to know about the athletes they recruit.

    Once Minter came in, there was little chance Justin would play. He had no position. Not big enough or strong enough to play DE, not athletic enough for the hybrid DE/OLB position, and lacked the speed to play OLB. Justin is a smart football player and loves UK. I am sorry to see it not work out.

    I know. For heaven's sake, how many times do we have to explain that he was recruited by one set of coaches to play one defensive scheme and now we have a new set of coaches running a new scheme.

    I stated it in response to someone asking the question on page 1. It was asked again at the top of this page and answered by quagmire. It was immediately asked again following quagmire's response and was answered again by Alphacat93, 7lives, and now by me (for the second time).

    This reminds me of that old beer advertisement about stupid questions...

  • I seem to remember that one of the defensive coaches told Henderson last year that he would never play at UK.

    I dont know if there was a personality conflict between him and the defensive coach or just what that coaches reason was for telling a kid he would never play at UK.

    Could this be the reason Henderson is transfering. Was he tiring of beating his head against the wall and maybe not getting a fair shot.

    The kid certainly looked like he could play in last years spring game and got no playing time last year and it isnt like there was overwhelming production at the positions he plays by other players last year.

    I thought the kid would transfer in the off season. It seems he never got out of that coaches dog house.

    He is transferring because joker and Mitch suck. Didn't you know? ( please note: this post is dripping in sarcasm)

    He played behind Ridge and Bud Dupree last year. No way he was going to play over those two.

  • I think Justin was working very hard toward playing time. but when Josh Forest, a converted WR starts getting more reps. The writing was on the wall.
    Minter does not play favorites. He plays kids who give him the best chance to win the game.

  • henderson was not going to play then rush backer position over guys like dupree paschal r even wyndham he wasnt even playing special teams that should tell u somthing. people that continually think r staff plays there favs is retarded im sorry jokers job depends on winning even morgan newton was our best option to start the yr last yr over smith. and if towles is better than smith he will play period.

    I thought Bookie was limited in practice from the beginning becasue of grades.

    Patterson did leave the team. He's still trying to recover from the knee injury. I wish him luck.

    Don't expect this to be the end of things either. A couple of more players will likely leave before fall semester starts. Most of the guys you'll notice leaving are not key players here though.

    That's a shame about Patterson. The others didn't bother me, but he definitely had some talent. He was playing behind Rancifer and McDuffen, but still would like to have had him for depth
