Big Cuz to join the Celtics? **UPDATE WITH SI.COM COLUMN**

  • The trade deal is still in the works, so many rumors are flying around... being a Celtics fan, I would love to see it happen.

  • with Cousins last couple games i think the asking price had to increase

    goldenbearcatz

  • Yeah, he has a monster week. He put up over 200 fantasy points for me. I believe against you JJ.

  • The Celtics will have to give up plenty to get the big Cuz but it would be worth whatever the asking price is and can only see that Rondo and Garnett would be the only 2 not in play in trade considerations. This trade would make the Celtics a very dangerous team from this moment on. Im wondering though if this is a psychological ploy to get through to the guy to shape up or ship out and according to the the last couple of games it has worked.

  • Garnett, Rondo and Cousins on the same team; talk about 3 on-court punks. I don't care if two of those players played at UK or if you disagree with me but it is true when looking from an unbiased perspective. Fortunately, neither of them are worse than Garnett. I wish I could be an NBA ref as I would foul-out Garnett on illegal screens only as he would only have to set six screens for that to happen.

Doc Rivers may just decide to retire if he gets Cousins to go along with Garnett and Rondo but he would enjoy winning a lot of games first.

  • Is Paul Pierce supposed to be part of the deal or something. You guys are mentioning Rondo and KG but not Pierce. He's still a big time scorer in the NBA. Why no mention?

  • The Celts would include KG in that trade if it came down to it...KG is just old now...not the player he was an likely to retire any season now. With that said he is still an effective NBA big, but if the choice was Cuz or KG you take the young man.

I havent heard any particulars concerning Celtic players but you are right that Pierce is still a big time scorer and may be 1 of the untouchables but who knows. I mentioned Garnett and Rondo just b/c they came to mind first but I guess Garnett could be on the chopping block due to his age and like another poster said given the choice I take the young guy Cousins, but this is all conjecture b/c it could be just a ploy to get through to the big guy to help him change his attitude, but again that to is just a guess.

there is no way KG would allow that trade.. neither would pierce.. these guys are veterans and would have no trade clauses in their contract.. theres no way either of them would accept going to the kings which have no legitimate chance to compete for the title.. also i doubt rondo would accept that trade either... to me the only pieces the celtics have are lee green and sully... and i honestly doubt that is enough to acquire Cousins.. but i wish it was.. i would love to see him and kg play together.. i think it would help cousins tremendously to see how KG acts off the court.. but like i said i doubt it will happen

  • PS, it sounds like this rumor is more false than true.

  • Cousins does some opening up in this CNNSi.com column today:

DeMarcus Cousins says he hasn't gotten 'fair chance' in Sacramento - NBA - Chris Mannix - SI.com

NEW YORK -- There is a tantalizing talent inside DeMarcus Cousins, a gifted scorer, passer and rebounder packed into a burly 6-foot-11, 270-pound frame. On any night, against any team, against any player, Cousins can dominate, posting NBA 2K-type numbers like the 31 points and 20 rebounds he put up against Toronto last Friday or the 28 points and 11 rebounds he collected against Brooklyn the next night.

  • If I were the Wizards, I would say you can have anything but Wall, Beal and this year's first round pick for DeMarcus.

    aw, beal?

i would trade beal. His potential is no where near Cousins' level.

  • Man, I wish they had sold to a Louisville group. Would have loved to see the city give a big F you to Jurich and U of L.

I'm tired of seeing Jurich and Ramsay crying in the C&J.

You're right...KG does have a no trade...only three exist in the NBA today (Kobe, Garnett and Duncan). So not even Pierce is protected...though I wouldn't expect they would trade him.

Looking at his history, Danny Ainge isn't checking with his superstars if he wants to make a trade...don't forget what he did with Perkins to OKC....every vet on the Celts (including Allen at the time) wanted to kill Ainge for making that deal and he just did it, no remorse. The Celts are on the verge of being blown up to get a fresh start...Ainge won't be taking advice from aging stars on how to rebuild. I imagine Rondo will be very happy to drop those slow vets and pick up some young blood.
