WOW How the mighty has fallen. Three years ago the Big East was considered the premier b-ball conference with 8-10 teams being said to be going to the big dance but now the "Smaller East" may go by the wayside or be just a shadow of its former self. We are now going to see 2 conferences that will dominate the NCAA b-ball world, at least for a while. The Big Ten and the ACC will be "the Leagues" when it comes to b-ball conferences and with that being said they may not yet be through morphing into what has been called the 1st two "Super Conferences". The next things to be decided in the next several years is what conferences will morph into the remaining 2 'Super Conferences" which has been predicted to form the (4) Super Conferences that will split from the NCAA to form an entity of its own. If and when that happens college b-ball will never be the same whether thats good or bad will be up for individual speculation.

Absolutely. For much of the nation, college basketball has become a 4 week sport that starts in March. Football money is driving this train, and (IMO) in less than 5 years the ACC will be devoid of several teams. I think the SEC will most certainly snatch up 2 more (probably VT & NC St), the Big Ten will take 2 (UNC/UVA) and maybe even the Big XII will follow through on the rumors earlier this year of taking Clemson & FSU. Take those teams away and the ACC will become....the Big East *LOL* UaVel is like someone who keeps moving into what they think is a better neighborhood only to find out there are plans for a new landfill or sewage treatment plant to be built next to it.

Can't see SEC settling for 2nd rate status schools in their own state like VT & NCS. While FSU is 2nd to FL, it's much bigger status in a much bigger state than the other two. Yea, I know the FL blackball of FSU, but money talks & things change. Agree B10 likely to get VA & NC, but still think TX might be in that mix. If not, SEC gets two of TX/OK/FSU. B12 looks weaker & weaker.

Personally, I think the Big 12 will eventually be the conference out of the "Big 4" loop, so to speak, instead of the ACC.. I could see the Pac 12, SEC, B10 and ACC all swooping in there adding 2-3 of those teams,to there conferences and each of the Big 4 super conferences end with 16 to 18 teams.. I could see it end up something like this:

Texas, Boise St,, Baylor & BYU to the Pac 12

Kansas, N.Dame, K.State, Iowa St to the B10

Tx Tech, Oklahoma, Okl St, Va Tech to the SEC

WVa, TCU, Cinci, UConn, SFlorida to the ACC
