Biven: Hyde has been a tough challenge

  • Bivin named Kentucky defensive lineman commit Jacob Hyde as someone who has challenged him throughout the week.

"I think he's flying under the radar, but I feel like he's going to make it big on the scene when he gets to college," Bivin said.

  • I'm glad that Hyde is solid to UK.

  • Big body....big motor. That's 2 things that can't be taught. After a couple of years in the S&C program and coaching, he should be everything we need in a DT.

That kid's going to be a freak when Rock gets hold of him. He's already built like the Hulk.

  • The fact that he's from EKY should allow everyone to sleep easier at night when bigger schools come in and offer. He'll stick with uk to the end IMO.

  • Hyde also benches about 450 as a 17-18 year old kid...

If everyone in the state had the same passion for UK football as us hillbillies UK would be a top 10 program. On saturdays everyone I know is either at the game or watching on television. Same for BB...

450 bench and almost a 700 squat... 675 squat as a soph in HS, that's what is so freaky to me... But 450 bench is pretty amazing as well. I bet Hyde throws Bivin all over the place...

  • I'm not sure Rock is going to do a whole lot for this kid. Those numbers are unbelievable. From what I've read his strength is overpowering but needs work on technique. Right now he can just overpower people but will need to add good technique when he starts playing against SEC caliber O linemen.

Yes, technique and conditioning, which is what I was actually talking about with the S&C program.

Exactly and not the other way around for sure.

Technique will for sure be important but if you're just a manchild you can get away with below great technique. Obviously though he need both but Rock can definitely be big for this kid. I can't wait to see him 3 years in. Hyde goes hard. This kid is gonna be a UK great if he stays healthy.

  • The team beat american Samoa yesterday. Howe mentioned that although they hadn't been mentioned, Hyde and an Ole Miss commit had performed great establishing the line.

  • Looking at the stat line, Hyde had 1 solo tackle. Drennon had 2, 1 solo 1 assist I believe. No high tackle totals for anyone on the team that I could see. Interestingly, Hyde was flagged for a personal foul. I choose to believe he picked up one of the Samoan kids and was pressing him over his head.

Does anyone have any idea where we can watch these games? The semis are Wednesday and the finals are Saturday.

  • Biven's asked people to respect his commitment to Notre Dame, but I think he knows he's still wanted (badly) at UK. Something bad would have to happen with the Irish to change him mind IMO, rather than being convinced to simply flip to UK.

  • I just hope Bivin doesn't talk Drennon into coming to ND, that would suck... I have a good feeling Hyde can get Drennon to buy the "I don't care to take the double-teams so you can get all the one on ones just remember me when you get paid" Pitch...

I know some may call me crazy for saying this so but I really think there's a chance Hyde will become a dominate NFL NG... He's no 3 technique like Suh, cause he doesn't have that type of get off, but he does have the strength, size and good enough feet to become a Vince Wilfork, that would be huge for UK... I can't wait until Hyde gets on campus, he's going to be in the rotation day 1. I hope with everything in me that he can pull Drennon. I'm not sure if Joker would let another Dupree type slide over to defense but if he does we could be looking at a all out change to the regular 34... There is no way Rick could keep this kid off the field, just imagine the sub packages we could have on 3rd down with athletes like Bud, Farrington, Drennon and Bell along with Lb's like Henderson, Doron and Forrest...

If this 13 class could add Drennon and a super athletic ILB like Doron (except alittle bigger) we would be set... Please Hyde help us get it done...
