Buddy Ate Lunch With Barnhart, Here....

There are plenty of coaches out there that would love this job and they are better coaches than Joker...Don't kid yourself..I think Mitch will make a good hire on this one..So many dont give him enough credit because of Gillespie..We shall see soon..

If you look at it from the outside without the bias of being a UK fan for a bunch of years then I agree. Coming off of probation Mitch almost had Bill Parcells on a plane coming here to take the job, he interviewed Sean Payton and hired Rich Brooks as a consolation(not a bad consolation). We're in much better shape at this point. We've got good young talent in the program and we could possibly have 100+ million dollars to put into the program plus updated facilities. We're obviously still no where near where we need to be but we're much improved from where we were. We've made decent strides in recruiting in big time talent states such as Florida and Georgia. Lexington is a great place to live and always will be. So looking throught the eyes of a continually disappointed long time UK fan I could see how one might be pretty negative about our chances of making a good hire but if you get past all of that disappointment you can see some positives.

  • I agree with Matt's reading of the termination provisions of this contract. The $2.55 million is a minimum payoff if the University fires Joker in 2012 without cause, where cause is fully defined in the contract.

It was explained to me 2 weeks ago 20 some of the very highest donors met with Barnhart and expressed their opinion on the football program. This is a group, 22 is the number I was told, that have Barnhart's ear at all times. So nashwan's story is realistic to me. This was a meeting where the donor's did most of the talking and when you donate at this level you do get a chance to express your opinion.

Appreciate that Katonic. I don't mind taking the hits here at all, we all want the Kentucky Football program to improve and be something we are proud of. All I can say again is that this family has stepped up for over 3 decades and the info I get from them has always been pretty spot on. GBB.

Appreciate you letting us know what you heard. It may or may not be the gospel but it really can't do any harm.

Agree. I can only put out verbatim what I was told personally. But, all are allowed to put there opinions out there. That is America. Love it, now let's get the Cats where they need to be.

  • One of the guys that was at the meeting used to work with my dad. He is from the Ashland area. I think Barnhart let a lot of them air out their opinion and as most can imagine the future of UK football doesn't involve Joker Phillips nor any of his current staff.
