"Figuring out how we play. We're going to play great defense, block shots, rebound, play fast, dribble drive motion but how do you get into that?"

"I like my team but we're not going to be that good early. By the end of the year, I think we'll be alright. I think we'll be a high turnover team. I think we'll be a bad shot selection team, a team that breaks down defensively later in the clock, the pace of our game will be too fast but by February/March, turnovers will be down, we'll have great pace, better shot selection and I have a talented team."

On recruiting:
"They know they have to share sacrifice. If you want to shoot 30 shots a game, you don't come to Kentucky. If you think it's going to be about you and only you, you don't come to Kentucky. We don't sell the NBA. We talk about how hard it will be. You see the end result but do you see what you have to do to get there. 'Can you do for me what you did for Derrick Rose?' If you're that good, yes. We don't have a magic wand."

"I don't have to beg anybody. I'll never mention another school. We talk about how hard it is, how different it is. It's not for everybody. If you want this kind of challenge, you come. If you don't, you don't come. I can't hide you. If you're not a good player, it's a hard place to go because every game is on national television. You gotta want it. You gotta want the challenge. If you don't want that, you don't come with us."

Cal on why he chose to do All-Access:
"I'm scared to death because you don't know what's going to come out of the room. That's the risk I took. Come on in and do it how you want to do it. I've had friends say, 'you are out of your mind.' But I think it's the only way to show the country that I have good kids of character that understand why they're in school, that go to class, that are coachable and that understand shared sacrifice. I believe it's the only way I can do it."

Coach Cal killed it on First Take, even Skip Bayless stated that he enjoyed talking to coach Cal after the segment. Of course Stephen A Smith loves Coach Cal dating back to his time at UMass. Good talk about Lebron and how he wanted to play with great players to win a title just like UK kids want to play with each other to win titles and be the best they can be.

He really did. Carried himself very, very well. Cal is always good with those types of things but he was exceptional on First Take IMO.

He is what the Coach of Kentucky should always be, the best. Kids like these interviews but parents remember them. Cal. recruits parents as much as the kids. UK is and will always be UK. Cal really understands what a burden that is and lays in on the line and really never begs kids to come but make them feel that he only recruits the elite without ever saying it.
