Cal today is all

  • on you! Talk about an a team not ready to play? Well we seen one today. Yes Cal we fans do matter and know basketball. Hell some of us even played college basketball! You had twice the talent and were out coached today and it was embarassing to all UK fans! Don't ever say the fans don't matter again!

  • Fans sure as heck mattered for IU today. Wow, what a scene.

  • Life as Calipari you win and win big... Fans bitch. You lose....fans bitch more. Seems like a lose lose to me.

Shut up and enjoy the ride.

  • First off I don't think Csl ever said that the fans don't matter. Second Indiana shot unbelievable well from behind the arc. Sometimes teams are gong to dhot great and beat you.

Terrance jones was a complete no show this game. Doron was awful from the free throw line. Teague missed several lay ups in the first half.

Cal tOld them to foul at the end of the game and they didn't.

But if blamIng Cal makes you feel better then go ahead and blame him

  • It is only December 10th. This game essentially means nothing if our guys learn from it.

Can the fans hit FT's for the team? How about perimeter defense? Can Cal do either of these activities? No. it comes down the players, not making the plays they should. Though it looked like Teague and Miller BOTH tried to foul on the last second shot, the refs swallowed their whistle (imagine that - the most important play of the game). I do think Cal needs to put a helluva lot more emphasis on free throws. Hire a consultant, do something, because it's going to keep killing the 'Cats.

    Keep Calm & Stoops On..

  • You gotta be kidding me. This is where I get frustrated w/UK fans. We play a TOUGH game, on the road, early in the season w/a young team and lose by one and all of a sudden it's all on Cal. Get real. Yeah, I was mad w/how they played like ish for large portons of the game but maybe you didn't notice that we came back from 10 down in a VERY HOSTILE environment and lost by 1 at the buzzer. It happens and fortunately for UK, it doesn't happen very often.

The Cats will learn from this one and be better in the long run. No moral victories but a statement of fact. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team and congratulate them for making the play in the end to win it. Sure, there is A LOT not to like about today but there are certainly A LOT of positives to take away as well. The Cats will be fine.

I don't think people should be "ripping" Cal, per se, but he does deserve his fair share of criticism for today. Not his best day. That comes along with the territory when you make $4M/year.

  • This was on Terrance Jones and FT shooting! Both were horrible!!!

    kyfan09

  • Lamb made the mistake of the game (passing to Davis on next to last possession) and missed the big FT at the end (his 4th miss of the day) but is going unscathed on radio and message boards.

    Lose as a team.

I'm sure Cal always does some self evalutation and granted, he'd probably do some things differently. But I'm really hard pressed to remember any boneheaded coaching moves other than leaving TJ in for much longer than he deserved to be today.

I concur that when you make 4 Million a year you're going to get some extra scrutiny. But what I saw today was an exciting game early in the season that in the end, you just say congrats to the other team, learn your lessons and move on. If I was going to ding on a person today it wouldn't be Cal, Cough, Cough, Terrence Jones, Cough, Cough!!!!!!!!!

    ukaveman

  • Just an FYI, If I am not mistaken one of the refs for the game was Muhlenberg county KY's own Tommy Eades. He really had a poor game. Does he understand what a charge is?

    Good points.

I think he waited a little too long to help get the Cats out of their offensive funk. I saw very little attempt to get some favorable matchups and settle the team down. I would have isolated more often.

And then, at the end, you gotta make it CRYSTAL CLEAR what you're doing on that last :05.6. There can be no room for interpretation. You got 2 fouls to give. Inexcusable to go home with both and give up an open 3.

Excuse me? Shut Up! Who do you think you are? Don't tell me to shut up! I've played college basketball and know what I'm talking about! Have you big guy. Or are you one of the arm chair coaches on here that call for coaches heads for no reason. Cal was out coached and his team wasn't prepared for today! Plain and simple! It was embarrsassing! He has to be held accountable just like every other coach.

And yes Cal did say the fans didn't matter on his weekly "I'm the coach and you are stupid" show this week on the radio! You guys need to take a step back and see what is happening.frustrated

    Discount Double Check!!! LOL!!

Doesn't really matter if you "played college basketball", that was a bad post. People tend to disagree with stuff that is inaccurate.

You need to learn the difference in what is essentially a recruiting pitch, and when someone actually thinks the fans don't matter. If he really felt that fans don't matter, why visit dying UK fans in the hospital? Why travel all around the state in the offseason? Why come out and hang with them before Modnight Madness? Why generally go out of his way to be kind to every fan that approaches him? Think before you post, buddy.

C'mon, guys.... You can disagree without ripping into each other.

Debate is good, but it doesn't have to be personal.

I don't think anyone in the college game does anymore.

The first one against Lamb was laughably bad.

Cats can't seem to get a break on what I'm not calling the Block/Charge Arrow. (It would be more fair than the way it's actually called.)

Worst sequence had to be the no call on the Kidd Gilchrist drive quickly followed by the ticky tack call on UK at the other end.

Second worst was the charge call on Miller late in the 1st half. I thought that was just a horrible, horrible call.

However, things were evenly called in the 2nd half imo and the Cats lost by not executing in the crunch, not bad officiating.

I don't care if you played college ball, pro ball, or invented basketball. Your post was ridiculous. Step back n see what's happening? Really? We (most of us) see a coach that embraced the BBN (even crazy ridiculous fans) took an NIT team to the IT school in two seasons. Set records for players drafted and has become the DOMINANT recruiting power. Not sure exactly what you see chief.

Cal coached his ass off tonight just as he does every night. We ran into a buzzsaw IU team that embraced this game as their entire season, a building overflowing with rabid fans. Cal coached a group of young (very young) kids thru all of this and overcame an unbelievable shooting display from the Hoosiers to take the lead late and had we knocked down the freebies we walk out winners. He coached thru whatever it was that Jones was going thru not to mention Davis spending substantial minutes on the bench (our best two players BTW) and it took a 3 pointer at the buzzer for Crean to beat Cal...not outcoach him.

You have obviously undervalued the coaching it takes to coach so many stars and so many freshman and sophmores in order to get them to play together. How many coaches in America could completely rebuild his roster every year and STILL have a top 5 team? I guess whatever college team you allegedly played for was an entire roster of seniors and nothing else or
your played for John Wooden because I'm not sure your aware of what good coaching is,

  • Hate IU and hate losing to them but I like what Teague did in the 2nd half and hopefully he can move forward.

Wiltjer was way passive today. I thought there was a time or two he passed up a good shot. UK needs to get that 7th guy in the rotation.

Nice comback in a hostile environment when arguable your best player didn't mentally get off the bus for some reason?

    bigbluemist

  • Mosscat,
I'm not trying to say you didn't play or that you don't know your hoops, I just can't imagine how anyone could hang this on Cal when we had so many issues on the court tonigt that were beyond Cal's control.
my post may have been a little harsh and for that I apologize but your post was entirely the furthest from accurate IMO and us say most would agree.

    tommy

  • The way I see it is this...
One of our best players stays in could trouble and on the sidelines, Jones wasn't there mentally (like his girl dumped him or his dog died or something hell Idk) and with the exception of a couple of individual performances, the team just played poorly. There were several bad calls, a hostile environment (UKs 1st true road game challenge) and an IU team (a good team) that played hard as hell and made damn near everything they threw up from 3.

Despite ALL OF THAT, it took a last second buzzer beating 3 to knock us off!

And from that, we have Jones getting ripped apart , and Cal's coaching be questioned....REALLY???

ITS DECEMBER! HOLY SHIT! The season is just getting started and we have one of the
best 3 teams in the country. ALL IS GOOD IN THE BLUEGRASS PEEPS! Just chill out a little.
