Can the RB's rush for 2,000 yards?

  • We have talked about the OLine several times. What do you guys think would be a successful number for the RB's as a whole to end up with this year? What do you think the breakdown will be? For me it will go like this...

    Clemons 800+
    Sanders 650+
    George 250+
    Gainer 150+
    WIlliams 100+

Caffey RS unless injuries play a big part and if they do I say he goes for 150

  • The more I talk to the coaches, the more I'm convinced Sanders will be the guy to get the lion's share of the carries until he proves that he cannot handle the load. But I don't see any reason why, with this group of O-Linemen, that they can't approach 2,000 as a team. They've hit that mark in three of the last four years. I kind of see this year similar to 2007 (RB by committee) although that team had the great downfield passing threat with Woodson. Newton has to prove he can keep defenses honest in order to allow the backs space to run.

    I'll go with this:

    Sanders 750
    Clemons 450
    Gainer 450
    George 400
    Williams 200

  • I would agree with that Jeff but until I see Sanders stay healthy and I see how that knee is doing Im gonna hold off expectations. Plus Im ready to go full out with my man crush on Clemons. BTW has Sanders been taking contact yet? Maybe I missed it but I havent heard that he is.

  • With the amount of emphaisis that the staff will put on running plays, i could see 2500 not being out of reach. of course my glass is always half full. rockon. I really think Ray is going to be a 1000 yard back if he can stay healthy. I love him on NCAA 12. haha.

    Very interesting jeff.

I am going to save this prediction. Not to hold your feet to the fire but more to just see how expectations work out. I sincerely hope you are right. We need to control the clock and keep other offenses off the field as in Tennessee Titians Fisher ball. It worked for them for a long time and I think it fits the more conservative style of play as of recent years. Having said that I certainly hope we open it up a bit on both sides of the ball.

Thing about freshmen, expectations are almost always too high. The ones who come out and do really well often seem to come out of nowhere, rather than the hype Clemons has been receiving.

  • Says Marcus Lattimore... HAHA I know what you are saying though. I try to temper myself but hey at the end of the day Im still a FAN!!! I will say though I disagree with trueUK on Sanders rushing for 1000. Even if he remains the starter he is gonna split carries with alot of different backs so that may keep him from 1000 more than anything.
