Cats parting ways with WR target?

Before the holidays, it appeared that a Florida wide receiver was the main man on the Wildcats' recruiting board at his position. That may no longer be the case.

  • I'm sure this kid is nice, but this is why you don't sit on an offer if you find a place you like enough. If his heart is truly in South Bend, then I am at least glad he didn't lead us on and commit.

I'm just wondering who might have committed. Is Keithon Redding in the area Tee visited?

  • I feel for this kid. He is apparently a very good kid. I hope he gets a ride. We must have an unknown WR commitment.

do not know what's going on or even pretend to, but if the kid is no longer in your plans tell him, don't leave these guys hangin', the coaches are supposed to be the adults in these situations

I could not agree more. Call him back, tell him what's going on and let everyone go on about their business accordingly.

  • the staff did have a few recruits say the same thing last year. i agree they should call him back but he had a commitable offer on his visit and didnt accept it. it is rather strange madaris redding and now andrades r all saying the same thing. could the staff really be that high on care? are is there another highly regarded wr that r staff has in the bag exciting stuff.

  • I have heard for 2 months now that UK needs "playmakers". Is Core a playmaker? It would be nice to have more than one playmaker at WR since your top recruit is a QB?

He looked really good in the ALA-MISS All-Star Game. He's 6-3, 195 and runs 4.5. All the measurables seem to be there.

  • I'd still love to have this kid, he seems to be the type of WR we could use. I hope that we get back into touch with him if we don't have another WR already. I like Core too but we really need some WR's that can catch to go along with Towles passing. It is likely a numbers crunch though. The weeks leading up to signing day are always full of surprises.

  • This is just very perplexing...

I don't think you can call and tell the kid "what's up" because things change so quickly. I mean you call and tell him your in better than you thought with player X and he's the guy you want to take so he should move on and then Bama offers the kid you had in your pocket. You lose your commitment and you just crushed the kid who would have been your backup. I mean I would just prefer to patch things up then tell him something that may not end up being true.

Isn't this what Dooley has been doing at UT...telling his commits the likely truth. We don't know what your status is...yes, we know you have been committed for six months, and we'll PROBABLY take you, but we don't know for sure so go ahead and take some visits. How'd that work out?

  • This is why I love recruiting. It looked as if Andrades and Madaris were the best options at WR for UK just a few short weeks ago. And now, neither is getting calls from the staff. In all honesty, both were slow-playing UK and it looks as if Joker and Co. got tired of it. That's recruiting. Should they communicate that to each? Maybe, but, again, that's recruiting.

So, where does the staff turn now for the final piece to the WR puzzle in this class? It looks like they're all in with Core. I can live with that. The kid is super athletic with great measurables and a great skill set for the position.

Ding, ding, ding. Yes, indeed. This kid is definitely falling into that category. You could say that about Madaris as well. It's not likely he's going to Michigan St. or UMich. UK stepped away as well. It looks like Cincy for him.

You know, I honestly hate it for the kids but I guess that's part of recruiting. I know the situation is different, but I just can't shake off the recruitment of Davis and Dawson last season; I really don't have issues with this staff pursuing other options this close to signing day.

Who really knows what has happened in the Andrades recruitment over the past couple of weeks?! I'm sure the kid may say he hasn't heard from them in a couple of weeks but the staff would probably tell you different if they could.

Not sure what you're hating for the kids. They have free college ride offers & choose not to take one by a deadline. It's a big decision I know, but it's on them & they have to grow up sometime. How many would love to have their problem?

I guess what I'm saying is that it's a huge decision for a 17/18yo kid to make (unless you're Cam Newton of course). These kids probably have their family pushing them one way, their HS staff in another, hearing from several schools, JDrum calling them three times a day, etc...

But I do agree with what you're saying, gotta grow up at some point. And a free ride is priceless if you actually use it to your advantage.

  • Andrades is evidently a great student. He will probably get an academic ride somewhere and walk on to a good program.
