Just got back from Breathitt vs Estill...Breathitt routed the Engineers 49-12..both Estill scores came against Breathitts JV defense. The starters were up 41-0 at half..then went on to score on thier 1st drive of the 2nd half. Richard Trent..Breathitts QB..is a smaller Tim Tebow..he passed for 3 TD's and ran for 1 more..with several runs over 20 yards. Trent is 6'1 about 200lbs and has a nice, very accurate 40 yard bullet pass, and big arm with touch on longer passes. He also runs a 4.53 40. Kid can play DB too..he had like 8 tackles and 2 forced fumbles playing Rover. Breathitt has about 3 to 4 players capable of playing d1 ball..but UK has no interest in them. Wes Noble,a 6'5 195lb WR..can elevate and haul in the jump balls all day long. Noble runs a 4.55 and benches very well..310 I think..not 100% on this. Another is Kyle Brewer..a soph. WR/RB/DB..Kyle is only 5'11 140 but he is way tougher than his size..and after taking last year off due to a broke collarbone..hes back..had 4 stops playing bandit, and hauled in 3 rec for 82 yards and 1td. Brewer already runs in the 4.48 range and will wind up 6'1 or 6'2 and about 180. Hes an athlete who holds the school record in the 800m,200m, and 110m hurdles as a sophomore. One last player is Corey Shouse..who returned to the Bobcats from Pike Central..Corey is a 6'1 215lb lb that is a big time hitter..he led the team with 19tkls, 2scks, and a int he returned inside the 5.
Schools like Morgan co has athletes and big, country strong farm boys..benching 350plus.
You see lots of 6'3 to 6'6 280 to 320lb OL/DL like Jacob Hyde.
Then theres guys like Jeffrey Canady..kid can play SEC ball, and what about Aaron Jackson from Frankfort? 6'3 190 runs a low 4.4, why not give this kid a shot? -

If UK pins it hopes of turning the corner on its football results by focusing on KY talent it will nerver happen. There are not enough high schools and a dearth of talent. Yes there are 3-5 players each year that can make the grade; but unless we continue to mine GA, SC, FL, OH, and other nearby states it won’t happen.

If you fall in love with random high school talent, don't come to Texas. Limited spots and quite frankly Kentucky high school football is about as non competitive as it gets. I don't see a single Richard Trent thing on the internet excpet for Trent Richardson. Where did you get a 4.53 for him? Half the WR at the NFL combine run slower than a 4.53

Oh again, the stigma of playing football in Eastern Kentucky. Recruit strength and quickness and speed and they will win no matter who or were they played in hs because you can't coach those atributes.
The problem is that when you over look kids that may not be good enough to play at UK this year then that once in a life time player shows up and says, UK never recruits anyone from my school so I am going someplace else.
UK should be more involved with all Kentucky high schools and hold clinics, give teams tickets, do whatevre it takes to be the only team these kids want to play for.

Cats should look to get more in state players.
