  • It sounds like so much to us bums, but really isn't that high at all.

I remember when I was in college at JMU (a I-AA powerhouse), we routinely received 600k+ to play ACC teams (Maryland, Duke, UNC, and VT the last few years).

Yeah, and that's one reason they did the 4-game contract with Western Kentucky that gives them 40% of the take from the Nashville games. Even if it's not all that much money coming in it's still better than playing $400-600k to bring another team into Commonwealth.

I thought they where playing that game in Nashville for exposure, so your saying it about money, wouldnt it make more sense for a home game instead of 10,000 in a empty stadium in another state and to pay for travel expense for your team can not be cheap also isn't that kind of bad for the fans and all the business that make money when UK plays at home

  • Saw an article this week where Idaho basically scheduled themselves an SEC tour over the next few years to the tune of approx. 4 million dollars to play LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Florida.

Id have to say that figure makes up a healthy chunk of their athletic budget.

And no, none of those teams has to make the return trip to Spudland and enter the chamber of horrors that is The Kibbie Dome.scared

  • Another good reason to go to a 9-game SEC schedule.

    $0.00

the same that UL gets when playing at UK. Or at least that is the typical setup of a home & home series, the home team keeps all the money.

Good for the so called "gimmie" win teams/conferences out there. All the Big Five conferences want to bring you in for a homegame, charge them as much money as possible. There are only so many Sun Belt/Mac/CUSA to go around when every SEC/ACC/B10/B12/P12 wants to buy 2 or 3 homegames/wins. Maybe the "little guys" will start charging such high rates that the Big Five conference teams will see that playing each other OOC home & home makes more financial sense. Now that will be great for college football.

Or they'll just schedule more conference games as one poster mentioned above and keep the money in the bigger conference and less to the small guys.
