Clark Kellogg

  • I hate to even post this but I just can't help myself.

Am I the only one that has felt like Clark Kellogg has been openly cheering for every team UK has played in the tournament. Normally, I don't get entangled into media conspiracy theories, but I thought he was at his worst tonight.

Every time UK did something, he'd make a brief comment and go right back to praising Louisville and their effort.

    Am I off base here?

No, you're not off base at all. He's openly biased against UK. He and Musburger are horrible.

  • No. You are right on target Chris. Btw, I can't stand to hear him talk. When he talks, I cringe the same way as when someone takes their finger nails on a chalk board.

  • I didn't come away thinking that in the past games but the whole crew today I thought were pulling for the Cards. Maybe just hoping for a close game, but yes, today it was a tough game to watch and listen to.

  • I agree but I still like him better then Billy Packer.

    TUCK45

  • I thought he was bad during our game but Kerr was even worse. It wasn't just the UK game though, they might as well have osu uniforms on right now. It's gets worse too... first they call Louisville, Syracuse during our game and then in the second game they claim that Eddie Sutton went on after the OK St job to coach at Kentucky. They clearly didn't bring their A game and CBS should be embarrassed.

I don't like to contact sites like CBS and complain but I'm almost to the point of doing so as a favor to them.

I'm going to start muting the tv. They're horrid.

  • I thought that Kellogg was worse tonight than usual. I thought that because OSU (his alma mater) was in it that he'd rather them play UL than UK. Oh well, since OSU lost, maybe he can be more objective next game.
A lot of Ohio people hate UK. Maybe he was infected by that bug while he played for OSU.

That isn't saying very much though.

Not off base at all. Between him and Kerr, I dont know who was worse. They praised UofL all night. And the biggest one for me was the statement the Dieng(spelling ?) was the best player on the court on both teams. But Davis quickly followed that statement with a thunderous dunk. I like Nantz but Kerr and Kellogg were terrible.

  • I noticed it too. And when the other team does something good against UK he's out of his mind happy. It's pretty obvious.

  • I know it's tough for him to remain unbiased. Deep down he likely felt the best way for Ohio State to get a championship this year was for somebody to knock off UK so that they wouldn't have to face them. It ends that they don't even make it to the final game. Clark is a good man and I enjoy his work. I put up with former football players and thier bias commentary throughout a football season so I can live with Ck while we are on this title run.

    Southcat

  • I agree Kerr was just as bad. They acted like UK felt entitled and that UofL outworked us. Look we work hard too. You don't win 37 games by sitting on your ass and thinking about how good you are.

    tWhit

  • You are right Chris! I thought he(Kellog) really put both feet in his mouth on the Lamb/Dieng no call. He said is was good no call and let them play on. How in the he!! can the offensive player be knocked backwards from the direction of his momentum and there is no call. That's why they have the line for one reason. Geez!

    KATSKORNER

  • Didn't listen to the TV broadcast. Got the SportsSync radio to listen to the UK radio broadcast while watching TV.

Kellog always seemed to be a fan of UK from his first days as a broadcaster, (Think that he liked us from our recruitment of him as a player.), but I noticed a big difference just after Tubby left. Thought that it might had gotten better this tournament. Guess not.

  • He Clark did make some good calls. Like when MKG was called for not one but charges and Clark said that the Dfense was moveing. I like Clark most of the time, but he has to do his job and push the Lville team alot. They both knew that UK was the fav to win it all. They must keep the TV eyes watching the game. And hope UK does not walk away with the game 100 to 60 lol

    dvillepro1

  • violin Why give an ish? How do they change anything? Watch the game & draw your own conclusions about what happened. But I didn't notice whatever biases they had - and care less.

    vhcat1970

  • Without trying to sound arrogant, I think all the talking heads want a close game. They know that Kentucky is dominant and everyone wants an upset with the exception of us. People want to see Goliath lose and like last night when Louisville made that run, it gets them excited.

    ukcats2123

  • I found myself screaming foul vulgar obscenities at the officials and Kellogg and Kerr. It did seem that hey were not pulling for the Cards a bit, and honestly that didn't bother that much. Being unprepared and sucking at your job is what bothered me. That job demands preparation. You have to know the players and a little about them before games. Gimme Gus or Raferty anytime.

I did get pretty pissed when they both talked about how Dieng was the MVP of the game for either team then continued to go on and on about how he definitely had the better game just before some stat guy drops Davis' night on em and how Manning in 86 was the last to have a game like that.

  • I noticed it as well, the excitement level in his voice when UL would make a play was clear as day. It doesn't really mean anything in the grand scheme of things but it is aggravating to have to listen to someone that clearly wants the opposing team to win.

I'm on the fence when it comes to homers, and most of us are a bit hypocritical at times. We love Leach but hate Holtz. Lol. As long as a game is called well I don't mind the homerism (did I just invent a word? I invented "Brutalate" last night when Dieng mauled Lamb on that no call at the end lol) but when its a poorly called game combined with being a homer is when I get irrate which was the case last night.

Well there is a difference, Leach is a UK announcer, I fully expect him to be a bit of a homer as I would any announcer that covers one team exclusively. But being a local guy on the radio is quite a bit different than a national announcer that is supposed to cover teams equally.

Yeah I agree, I was just trying to make a point. He point I was trying to make is there are homers everywhere. Had he been all over UK nobody (us) would have had issue with it. I was only trying to say that a bad commentator bothers me a lot more than a homer.

It's all good, when UK brings home #8 they will all have to brow down. biggrin
