Number-thumping you might find interesting
When UK got its 9th football commitment today, it moved UK up to #20 in the 247 Composite rankings. These rankings are an amalgam of rating services like Rivals and Scout and take into account the quality of the recruits as well as the number of recruits.(UK presently has two 4-Stars and seven 3-Stars)
Taking both these factors into account, UK's class is 8th in the SEC behind...
#2 Texas A&M
#12 Ole Miss
But UK is ahead of ...
#37 Mississippi State
#45 South Carolina
But the number of commits may be overwhelming the quality of the recruits.
When just considering quality of commits, for instance, # 20 UK with 9 commits who average a 87.07 rating is better than #10 Louisville with 14 commits who average a 85.36 rating.
Just on this quality measure, UK is ahead of SEC foes...
# 25 Vanderbilt 86.87
# 45 South Carolina 86.33
# 37 Mississippi State 85.31
#32 Missouri 81.66
These are schools UK has a good chance to beat consistently in the future if recruiting quality remains the same, or gets better which may very well happen.
Interesting fact: No team in the Top 50 has more than 1 5-Star commit at this point.
UK is not just getting kids that are ready to play but they are doing it and adding depth much quicker than I expected them too. The days of having 2* kids and hoping they can contribute by their RS JR year are long gone with this staff.
I love me some good data. Well done UK69!
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and it has made all the difference (Frost).
The only good players joker Phillip's staff recruited were maxwell smith, josh Clemons, Ashley lowery, and Glenn Faulkner
You forgot bud Dupree, Avery Williamson, Khalid Henderson, Dashawn mobley, rumph, cobble etc.
The cupboard is far from bare ^^^
I agree, BiggCat. And you could add guys like D Miller and West too, along with several more. I think it has been more about how players were utilized and coached up. Don't get me wrong, we need help across the board to have SEC quality depth, but to say we only have 4 good players left from Jokers days is a little overkill.
I agree, msd. You've got good points. No matter what star rating a player is as a signee, they've yet to play a college down and they need to be coached up to the next level. And the next level is even higher in the SEC. Recruit and develop. This staff gets that. The last staff, not so much.
You guys will continue to get thumped by 1. Western Kentucky (remember him?) 2. Louisville and 3. Every team in the sec and the country for that matter. You guys should have learned from the basketball season you guys had that at the end of the day numbers don't matter. Good luck, you will need it.

Wow, what a douche'!!
You're an idiot. Fear is flattering. Go back under your rock and we will see in September. Good grief.
Your right we also have some of the most proven coaches in the country to go along with better recruiting. Stoops will have this team rolling the last 5 games of the year .
Must be so heart warming to be UL. UK will be the toughest opponent you face all year outside the bowl game. You could go undefeated and still not sniff the championship game with that powder-puff football schedule.
No worries guys, he'll be posting on his own board for awhile. If you can't add to the conversation in an adult way you can find another site to act like a fool on.

I think its funny after two years of decent basketball and football, they have become the Alabama down by the river. ul fans will always envy us, which is why they invade every UK site, little bro, more like little sis.
Gave you an up vote cause that deserved it.
Its also very far from SEC quality. But that will change over the next 2 years. The infusion of Stoops first two classes to go along with Joker's last two classes will get us back in the hunt. Look out for the football Cats in year 3 of the Stoops Era. Until then the foundation will be laid and we will enjoy watching our football team again.
With UK on the verge of making a huge splash! We have already taken recruits from USCw, USCe, Nebraska and could quite possible add a lot more! This staff is doing what we always thought could be done but never was! I am normally on rivals and over there we are 11th behind tOSU. If these guys can coach as good as Brooks did then we are in for a treat! Because Brooks had some lesser talent and those were our best teams the last 50 yrs! Imagine with the talent and depth that are coming in, 2015 is our year,I forsee a 9 win season
UK; because its everything UL isn't, a place that can get in your blood & turn it blue
No you are mistaken, we have SEC quality where we lack is SEC Depth and we lacked a SEC coaching mentality!

Part of having quality talent is having quality depth. It goes hand in hand. We don't have enough quality or quantity period. But help is on the way.
This. Even in our best recent years, we have been a shell of a team and depth is what kept us at 7-5, 6-6.
I didnt mean my last post like that, those were the ones they bothered to coach on a consistent basis and I forgot Dupree Williamson and Mobley. And u thought cobble was recruited by brooks so thats why I left him out. I dont know what was wrong with Phillips, he was a great assistant coach but when he became head coach his first and second were his best seasons because of left over talent,I guess he choked or something.
