Post your thoughts here. The kid was dynamite against Maryland. 10 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and ZERO turnovers.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and it has made all the difference (Frost).
I thought that Polson was the player of the game. His steal and layup was the play of the game.. Also the two free throws and his rebound and put back was big. I think that Goodwin had a good game. but he is going to have to let the game come to him more. I feel he sometimes tries to force too many things.
I agree that Polson was MVP of the game and with Dickie V. talking him up quite a bit his parents must have been so stoked and proud of him. Way to go and Cal should give him more quality minutes.

Yes, Polson would be my player of the game as well.
I think that Coach Calipari will be able to get through to his young players much better during their film session tomorrow. Harrow needs to study Polson's highlight film regarding how a point guard should be contributing to a team's success.
This team had several weaknesses exposed to the world tonight, rebounding chief among the issues. Calipari's teams have been very strong rebounding teams. This one needs to learn that rebounding is important in every game.
Keep in mind that Harrow was coming off of the flu, so he was probably not his normal self tonight. Harrow will be much better in our next game, but it is good to have a capable back-up in Polson. If nothing else, he is tough and steady ... two important qualities for any team.
you are right about Harrow. I am a Harrow fan. Polson still showed all of his teammates how to be effective while in the game, and Harrow can benefit from watching Polson's performance tonight.
In a hostile environment, first game of season, on national television.
About sums it up.
Completely disregarding Harrow's game (flu), Polson made a strong case for minutes. Whether he gets more or not likely depends on the next 5-6 games.
For tonight though let's all rejoice in the Kentucky born and raised Polson's performance. Top notch!
Oh, and something nobody seems to be taking about besides needing to rebound more. How about a team giving up 38 offensive rebounds and WINNING!? That's unbelievable in and of itself.
This team has the talent. If they mesh in time look out!
I posted about him in another thread but I will say it here too. glad he showed what he is really capable of tonight, and glad he silenced his naysayers. I stated that I was really disappointed he didn't get to play more in the exhibition games and a few people were very adamant about how stupid I was to think he could be a big contribution to this team. All else aside I'm very happy for Polson.
Also, they shot horribly from the freethrow line and add the terrible rebounding you mentioned its near a miracle they were able to win. I know its only 1 game but Polson showed me a lot of poise tonight in that he played 22 quality minutes and had 0 TOs.
Kentucky kid. Love that for Polson, his second cousin is a good friend of mine. She is no doubt pumped as well. He has earned some serious playing time.
Now, we have to start rebounding and Noel needs to shoot 500 free throws a day in practice. It is going to be really fun though.
Great game for Polson. I'm happy for him, and hopefully the "stars" will learn a lot from it. I know Harrow was sick, but I'm not sure he would have prevented Polson from doing what he did if healthy. It has been no secret lately that Cal has been wanting and needing Harrow to focus more.
True. I wouldn't go writing off Harrow just yet. I still think he'll get to where Cal wants him to be eventually.
It was 28 offensive rebounds, but, still waaaaay too many.
Yeah, noticed that today. Didn't feel like editing my post.
Practicing against Knight, Teague and Harrow the last couple of yrs has probably helped. Real happy for him and hope he continues to get good minutes every game. We really didn't look like we had any depth at all in the backcourt, this should really help us for the long haul.
Professor, I agree about the rebounding but freethrow shooting was like a sore thumb sticking out and other teams will take advantage of that in the future also Cal used player substitution masterfully last night in the closing minutes of the game . Polson was steady and really impressed me by his steady defensive play.
