I hope that this is true! Thanks for posting JJ!
Been a Cat fan since August of '92
Forgive me for not already knowing this but what does "fostered along by Bill Parcells" mean?
+1 for the info
It's Stoops, folks. I think. LoL
Just noticed that this was posted earlier this morning... You'd think someone would've noticed it by now. Jeez this search is ridiculous.
MacIntyre worked for Parcells for awhile in the NFL and reportedly they had a great relationship. I dont know if that is what was meant by that statement but if it isnt maybe it will be explained by the poster.
Matt/Chris any way this report may have "accurate" legs??? Go Blue!!!

I knew he had worked for Bill in the NFL but i was hoping that it would mean Bill was going to help him somehow build a staff, and things along those lines. But i bet thats wishful thinking om my part.
I read Mitch had offered Bill the job back when we got Coach Brooks. If thats true and he really was thinking about taking the job then maybe he will "Tudor" Mac if this does happen
We have gone from everyone saying no thanks all at once to now having THREE guys accept the job!
HOLY SHIT! Is the program really that bad?
So bad we need 3 head coaches? Lmao
Not sure how much more I can take. Lol
Plus I havent gotten any work done in weeks
I'm a big Cowboys fan down here in Texas and yes, Mac and Parcells had a good relationship. Bill and Mac's dad, George, worked together for two years at Vanderbilt in the 70s so there were some easy connections there. Think Parcells even worked under George during that time. So a mutual respect between Parcells and the elder Mac. Parcells will be there for support if/when MM needs it and anytime you have a connection with Bill Parcells it is only a plus in the football world and can only help building a staff.

Thanks for the info, +1
I'll be fine with McIntyre or Stoops. McIntyre has done an outstanding job at a place much worse that UK and has contacts in the SEC region. With Stoops, I feel he might put together a dynamic staff and pull some interesting recruits from the states of Georgia and Florida. I think Andersen is a very solid coach, but I believe his lack of southeastern connection would be a hinderence for him.

I just quoted what was reported on their board... but the way I understood "fostered along" is, Parcells was the middle man and played a role in getting the deal done. He has good relations with both Mitch and Macintyre and I'm sure both parties, not only wanted, but respected his input. I'm not sure how much of a role he played in the final negotiations (contractual/money)... but he definitely helped to bring the two together.
debunk that real quick. http://247sports.com/Board/59457/San-Jose-States-Mike-MacIntyre-no-contact-from-Kentucky-or-Cal-14391012
"Through a representative" is the key phrase sleepy used.
Well, not excited about this hire at all. Next season definitely won't be the season I decide to buy season tickets again.
A coach with one winning season, who plays a pro style offense and no defense? Sounds like mitch found his guy to build upon Joker's "foundation"
Complete failure by Mitch.
I guess I will let Bama and ND play for my football fandom until UK decides to take the sport seriously.
I can't tell if you're being serious or not... Here are his team's defense statistics:
T-22nd Pass interceptions (15)
T-5th Sacks (40 sacks, or 3.33 per game)
T-19th Tackles for loss (85 Total TFL)
T-7th Turnovers Gained (31 Total Turnovers Forced)
20th in Rushing defense (3.60 yards per rushing attempt)
T-1st in Fumbles recovered (16 fumbles recovered)

Complete failure by you since you did not do any research on MacIntyre. Of course he's only had one winning season, did you happen to notice what team he took over? To even have a winning season in year three at SJSU is amazing. That was a "dead-end" program and turned them into winners even with basically no recruiting budget. He had to hold camps up and down the California coast to even find players.
Outside of possibly Tuberville I have come to think that MacIntyre is the best available candidate for our job. He has deep ties to the South, the NFL, the West (where he may turn for some JUCO help), and throughout football coaching through his dad's long career. He is a successful HC and respects the SEC. I hope it is him because he comes with his own advisors in the family and they know what UK needs to be successful. If the deal is just then MacIntyre may do very well here.

I agree with your observation, zcats. Mac does appear to be the best fit of those realistically available. Look at his experience and where he's been; his connections within the football coaching industry (dad's career very beneficial); his very impressive 3-year turnaround at SDSU; his penchant for a strong defense is something we desperately need; etc. etc.
I, for one, will be very pleased if he becomes our next HC.
Get ready for the Mac Attack!!! The era is about to begin.
Mac does have a son who is in his JR year of high school...family things factor in, but going from $500,000 in salary to $2,500,000 will buy that son a better car for graduation from a fine Lexington high school!
