Did he or didn't he?
The Louisville coach denies he has spoken with Tigers.
It's because he's going to Tennessee. Watch.
He sure as HELL don't wanna be in the ACC by himself!!!
They must be pretty far down their list. Strong is still just a decent HC IMO. Certainly not an awful coach or hire, but not a homerun either
I'm sure you thinks Stoops is God's gift though, right? There's no reason to think Strong is the next saban, but he's proven the ability to build and lead a team. I don't think he is elite, but he's def upper 2nd tier from what I've seen.
Isn't that just what I said? Auburn probably has 4-6 guys ahead of him on their list. That would make him upper-second tier.
What has he done on the field that is any better than Butch Jones in the same conference? He is a good coach and with the resources that a big school like Auburn has he could certainly do very well. I'm just saying people need to slow their role on him
If I were Auburn I would go after Strong for sure. I agree I don't think he wants to go to the ACC even though the conference has sort of beefed up a bit at least in basketball lol. The ACC just isn't going to be a conference that will help Strong in recruiting and it could really hurt Louisville going to the ACC. I think Strong wants to be in the SEC and Auburn has the facilities and program that would make Strong a real factor especially if he could keep that recruiting class together. I really believe Strong will either be at Auburn or Arkansas don't think Tenn. is a better situation for him to step in and win right away like at the other two schools. Strong will be a very good coach and in a few years if he makes the right move for himself he could be competing for SEC championships and NC. He will not be at Louisville next year too much to lose for him as a coach and I'm very glad he won't be there because Louisville is headed for alot of down years.
I have it from an immediate relative of one of Strong's staff members that he does not want to go back to Arkansas. That same source says UT. Another source connected to UL says he's deep in talks with UT as well. Obviously they could be wrong, but this info is about as solid as can be. I'm willing to eat all the crow you can dish out if they turn out wrong.
Arkansas is NOT a good spot right now either with lean recruiting classes the past few years. To be honest, I think Auburn is the best SEC job still available even though they only won 3 games this year. They have great facilities, wonderful fan base and [most importantly] great recruits over the past few years. Chizik is just a terrible coach would collected the right talent in one year and Cam carried him to a title. To summarize, Tennessee is a mess, Arkansas has no talent left in the stable, Auburn's expectations are down but the raw talent is not. Strong would be wise to win the Big East this year and sign with the Tigers on Sunday afternoon.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and it has made all the difference (Frost).
Run the numbers on the teams that he has beaten, its sad actually because no where besides high school football could he have played such a cupcake schedule every year.
I don't know, some were swearing that Petrino and Mac were a done deals for Kentucky, so take all with a grain of salt until you see it in print.
Never claimed to have connections there. When a family member of the UL staff has said the same thing since early September I conclude there is something there. Now another source close to Jurich is claiming he's deep into talks with UT.
As I said, things can change. I won't deny that, but I have to pretty solid sources. One connected to Jurich and another to Strong's staff. The latter that has been with Strong for quite some time.
I expect we play Strong at the end of the season next year.
With the penalties that are inevitable at Auburn why would anyone want to go there? I can see why Petrino would as he just wants to get back into the game and wouldn't be worried about it. But if you are an up and comer or a known thing you stay away from Aub for the next 4 years.
Strong may very well end up at UT, but, if that's the case, it's because UTs top targets turned them down. Gruden is there #1 choice and Jimbo Fisher is #2. Bob Stoops, Chris Peterson and possibly 1 or 2 more are also ahead of Strong on the UT wish list, so, like I said, if he ends up there, several others have turned them down. Matter of fact, the UT fanbase is scared to death that this is who they end up with and in there eyes he's not near the home run hire they're wishing for and most won't be happy if he's there guy. I think a major meltdown would be a good word for it.
I've never gotten the fascination for Strong. Give him his UaVel teams and UK's schedules and he would be under .500 and probably looking at unemployment or a red hot seat next year. He was 14-12 heading into the year, and while he has a nice record at this point against a butter soft schedule, he has won several by the skin of his teeth and could just as easily be sitting at 4-7 or so with 5 wins by a TD or less.
Gruden and Stoops are not going to coach UT. Peterson is possible, but Strong is in their top 5 no doubt. He is in a lot of peoples in the SEC top 5
I would agree with this. Actually, if he didn't have Teddy B this year, they would be flirting with under .500 IMO.
Another way to argue is that good coaches find ways to win the close ones.
I think Strong is a good coach, that is exactly why I would love for him to go to another school, UL doesn't deserve a coach like him ;)

If they were playing a good schedule(s), I would agree, but they're not, and I don't.
We'll find out tonight. If Louisville loses tonight then I think the cardinals need to take a serious look in the mirror. By every standard Louisville has played a joke Big East schedule. They could well end up losing to three straight VERY average teams to close the year. If Strong can't win it this year with a BAD Big east then he likely wonders, damn, "I just need to get out now while my stock is high and at least play with the big boys..."
I take him at his word.
I'm just saying, he's not there top choice and he may be in the Top 5 in Hart's eyes, but, the fanbase is absolutely against Strong getting the job.. They don't want Butch Jones, either.. IMO, it's 1) Gruden, 2) Fisher, 3) Stoops, 4) Peterson, 5) Golden and 6) Strong or Jones, on there list of candidates..
If it's not one of the Top 4 or Petrino, their fanbase will come unglued, especially if Auburn and Ark make a big splash and get a bigger name guy..
He started at UofL with a decimated roster. No talent. The recruiting has been tremendous since CCS was brought on. This team starts mainly freshmen and sophomores. He would be a fool to leave this team now, but if he does, I'm sure Jurich will bring in an excellent replacement.

You're right that UofL was a down team in regards to talent and coaching; and Strong has done what he was brought in to do: RECRUIT. He is an excellent recruiter but I am not sold on him being a great coach. Look at the last two games, after the blow out loss to Cuse (which can happen to anyone) and then they had two weeks to prepare for UConn and they looked lost on the field even before the Bridgewater injury. I just did not see him prepare well and he had two weeks to do it. Also, UofL has looked worse as the year has gone on, their offense seems to be a roller coster ride. But that could be the sign of a young team.
I think it is too early to call Strong a great coach, that has yet to be seen and I guess we will see tonight and good luck.
Personally, I think Strong has done a great job.. Joker came into the UK situation in better shape than what UL was in, or at the very least, no worse.. In that time, Strong has outrecruited Joker by a longshot and has outperformed him on the field.. Granted, Strongs record wouldn't be near as good if he had to play UKs schedule, but, imo, half the battle is getting the talent there and he has done that, moreso than what UK has done during that same period and to do it at a school affiliated with alot less conference prestige is doing something, not only in our state, but, out of state, as well..
Now, in saying that, that doesn't mean I think Strong is the next big thing, but, I agree that with what he's accomplished thus far in a short period of time, is impressive and I would consider him a very good hire for whoever gets him.. You could definately do alot worse..
I agree. A few of the calls were head scratchers last week and the team came out really flat. Great recruiter. Jury is out on his abilities as a head coach.
