Has officially begun and I knew it would.
Even a national championship won't be enough to silence all the critics:
@TheBigLead Kentucky knew there'd be backlash to having all 5 starters declare for the draft, so UK moved presser to 7 pm. Same time as NFL sked release
Let the haters hate. Big freakin deal. They should be glad these guys are going pro. I mean do they want us to win 4 straight championships. I don't think so.
Proud of these guys and what they gave us!!
That may not be the dumbest thing I've ever heard coming from the national media, but it certainly deserves an honorable mention.....
I thought we were trying to knock the NFL off the air
Screw the critics. I'm proud of these guys.
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
They better get used to it. It will happen every year. Maybe not 5 every year but pretty close.
Can't say that I was aware the NFL schedules were being released today...
Only a 3-hour special on ESPN. No big deal.
Here's all I need to know about NFL schedule - turn the TV on Fox at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday and on ESPN at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. The only team I may even glance at their schedule is Green Bay so I can see Cobb play.
I don't think it's so much backlash as it is disappointment, at least on my part. I miss having the chance to see the players grow over 4 years in college. I don't really watch the NBA, so I likely won't be able to see them as much as I could if they stayed at UK.
"Apparently the University of Kentucky basketball dynasty is to continue forever." - Philadelphia Inquirer, December 23 1954.
They need a three hour special for that? Geebuss, what is the world coming to?
I know, right? That's the 24-hour news cycle for you. Have to fill air time. Mostly with as much NFL, Tim Tebow, formerly Brett Favre and anything Yanks/Sox, Duke/UNC as possible.
Nothing gets me excited like a Buffalo - Seattle mid November matchup. Now that's something to look forward to!
Is this really a crappy time of year for sports or what? At least in July there's the Tour de France for a few weeks. Bleh.
If you like baseball it's not so bad. I'm not sure what backlash this guy is talking about. For another thing moving it to primetime isn't exactly trying to avoid press. Having a press conference with all 5 of them isn't exactly avoiding publicity. I just don't get what the guy means.
I know Matt, Jeff and James are big baseball guys. I am not.
Just can't invest 3.5-4 hours into a game when there is 162 of them. Just not my thing.
I'll watch the playoffs but can't get down for any regular season baseball.
That's unAmerican! You probably don't like hotdogs, apple pie, or Chevrolets either!
The NBA Playoffs are coming up. I love the Playoffs. Finally get a chance to really watch the best players in the world consistently.
Not a baseball guy either. I do however love the playoffs. Much like the NBA though not quite as much.
That's how I feel about the NBA, in a general sense. I just can't get into it at all.

Except without the sarcasm.
Edit - haha forgot to quote what I was replying to. That was regarding the Seattle vs. Buffalo in November post.

I'd watch that game. Stevie Johnson baby. I can pretty much watch any NFL game. Usually some story line that makes a game halfway interesting.
I love the NBA playoffs and MLB playoffs from the quarterfinals on, but man I just don't care about the first couple of rounds. There's just too much of it and it kills my interest. And then there's the sports desert in between the two........
I also think that the time between the NCAA finals and the NBA playoffs (part where I pick up interest) is so bad because I'm typically so emotionally invested in watching Kentucky play that it's a real emotional void for me. Damn, I sound like an addict here, don't I? Lol.
Why would UK even call a press conference if it was worried about backlash? Cal doesn't give two craps about what anyone says about these kids. NFL schedule... Lmao
Maybe the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. (And that's saying something.)
