Bubble teams that lost yesterday in conference tournaments:
Colorado State (25-8)
Iowa State (22-11)
La Salle (21-9)
San Diego State (22-10)
There's already been one 'bid-stealer' win their conference tournament ... Western Kentucky in the Sun Belt. With many people considering Middle Tennessee a potential at-large team, Western's upset tournament championship could mean that the Sun Belt may get two bids to the NCAA ... 'stealing' a bid from the other Bubble teams.
Conference tournaments where we need to watch for potential bid-stealers:
** Atlantic 10 **
Bid-stealers remaining > UMass
** ACC **
Bubble teams remaining > Maryland
** Conference USA **
Bubble teams remaining > Southern Miss
** Mid American **
Bubble teams remaining > Akron
Bid-stealers remaining > Ohio
** SEC **
Bubble teams remaining > Alabama, Ole Miss
Bid-stealers remaining > Vanderbilt
** WAC **
Bid-stealers remaining > New Mexico State, Texas-Arlington
Kentucky dodges a potential bullet in its fight for an at-large bid to the NCAA as Memphis holds off Southern Miss in double-overtime for the Conference USA championship and automatic bid. Had Southern Miss won, both teams would have been in and that would have meant one less bid for bubble teams.
Need Florida to play and beat Vandy in finals.
hopefully Vandy beats Ole miss worse than they beat us and it knocks ole miss out..and then yes we obviously need florida to beat Vandy
And unc crush Maryland. And somebody take a closer look at mtsu, lasalle, ut, and UVA. Wtf?
NCAA chair Mike Bobinski says the committee is still considering 13 bubble teams for 2-6 open at-large bids
Bobinski also says the conference tournaments are 'an extension of the regular season' and not over-emphasized.
so 13 teams
who are the other 2?
in reality it doesn't matter because IMO we are not 1 of the 6 teams that will be getting that at large bid
We have better overall wins and a better conference record than almost all those schools..
Hell, we beat 3 of those teams lol. What do u mean we aren't being considered
It is definitely close enough I plan to watch the show, but it will royally suck to not see our name. Even a play in game would be better than nothing I guess
i clearly listed us as being considered.. i just said we wont be 1 of the 6 teams in...
and it doesn't matter head to head.. if Ole Miss beats Vandy then they are clearly in even though we beat them and if Maryland beats UNC then they are also clearly in...
Agreed. I think ole miss is gonna win, but not Maryland. So we will get one break there
Predictably, Vandy is 4-of-20 on 3s today after setting the world on fire last night.
I can't even watch it. So obvious that would happen
Vandy is shooting horribly now.. it hurts to watch them play this bad against Ole miss after making everything against us
but ok I agree that Maryland will lose against UNC
Ole miss wins which makes them in
that leaves 5 remaning spots for 11 teams
Yeah. 50/50 shot basically. I think UT, Maryland, umass (if they lose), LaSalle, and MTSU should be out.
one thing i don't understand about lunardi's bracket.
We were ahead of tenn going into SEC tourney.
We lose and they lose...we are not in the first four out and they are in it.
That's one of 5 things I don't understand. Something else, I have not been used to us being on the bubble lately. Is it always completely focused on these last few in almost more than 1 seeds, or is it just me being a conspiracy guy again?
North Carolina fends off Maryland. VCU up four on UMass with 7 minutes left.
VCU holds off UMass.
Sure looks to me like it will come down to UK, Tennessee and Alabama and how the committee evaluates those three exceedingly similar teams.
Gosh, I hope they just base it on SEC record (including quality wins within the Conference/ Conference SOS), because we had the 2 spot. Bama played the weakest SEC schedule, and UT simply lost a lot more games. We split with UT, so that is a null. Bama beat us at Bama (a game we led), which hurts. If that is the case, I think they will select UK. I just hope we even get that far in the process to have it come down to that..... I agree though, they are not planning on taking 5 from the SEC, so if they get 4, you are spot on..
Looks like Lunardi has Bama out of the picture. So if its between us and UT for the last SEC spot, who gets it????!!

Again, Lunardi isn't the committee. There are always significant differences between what he predicts and what really happens.
