Cincinnati HC. This guy can really coach. UK could do a lot worse. Would love to see him on UK's sideline next year. Any interest on either side?
There have been a lot of people on this board that have expressed a TON of interest.....me included. Sure, I would contact Leach and Petrino, but Jones would be my quick 3rd. To me he is well above Hudspeth whom I also like.
He has excelled as a HC in the MAC. And now is kicking tail in the BE. He recruits well out of Florida and Georgia......and Ohio (including Cincy).....it's almost a perfect fit for us.
Nobody in there right mind wants Leach. That includes UK admins. As for Jones and Petrino they are at the top of the list.
Yeah... I know we have a lot of young talent, and joker is building something as far as that goes, but we need an up and comer!! I hope they don't brink joker back with his sec coaching experience, especially with a guy like jones who has been tearing it up in the Mac and big east available. If not parcells, spurrier, belicheck, or Petrino.... Yes, let's get butch jones!!
I think that a lot of people would love Leach. He's a proven winner for over a decade in the Big12. He runs an offense that the majority of UK fans probably would want to see.....he almost plays basketball on the football field.
He's not really my cup of tea, but he's a proven winner.....he's very low risk, high reward.
I'd rather have Joker than Leach...
Sir. Put the gun down. It's not worth it. Think about your wife and kids.
I have a serious question. Why would he leave UC and come to UK?
I'm not sure he would. He likely will get called to interview at a top notch school soon, but he makes $1.5 mil at Cincy...and the BigEast is in chaos with their future unknown. There is a chance that he could come to UK if we offered him $3-4 mil a yr.
Well, it sounds good anyway....
This goes back to when I used to ask girls out on a date. The worst they can say is "no."

Doesn't mean I don't want a change...
I'd rather have Jones than Fulmer. That's a name I've heard whispers about and it scares the sh!t right outta me. I'd rather have Cutcliffe than Fulmer too for that matter.

I just think that we are screwed till the administration makes a TRUE COMMITMENT to football. And I'm not talking a one time commitment of $100 million. I'm talking a ongoing financial commitment.
What about Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern?
Keepin in fresh since 1986.
Fitzgerald or Jones would be great. Fitzgerald is a Nwestern alum though. Tough to pull him away. Although money talks.
I think we could get Butch Jones for 2.5 mil/yr. That is an $800,000 increase from Joker's salary, but still well below other SEC coaches. I personally would love to see a contract that pays $400,000 per win for our coach with a minimum of 1.5 mil/yr guaranteed. You win 12 games, you get paid more than Saban.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and it has made all the difference (Frost).
Jones is my #1 BY FAR, but I have to concede I think the probability of landing him here is less than 20%. I hate to say it but the Bearcats have surpassed us in football, and the possibility of bringing our program up to the 21st Century, like Coach Brooks said we need to do, does not look promising at the moment.
The only thing we can really offer him is a little more money which Cincy would probably quickly match, and the prospect of coaching in the SEC. But he would have to be willing to take weekly beat downs for 2 or 3 years before he could start competing in the league at any sort of reasonable level. Even then he is up against a mountain of competition. You also have to believe he is looking at the jump his predecessor took and thinking that he could be next to land on a big national stage if he keeps coaching like he is now.
I just don't see how the UK situation as it is now would appeal to him. I think we would stand a better chance with a coach from a non-BCS conference like Dykes or Hudspeth.
I'll say one thing if these people that run this place care anything about saving football they damn well better be putting some ideas in motion to come up with some funding becasue without some sort of a positive picture to paint for any prospective coach, we may find getting a quality candidate to accept the job, to be a nearly impossible task.

The Big East as we know it today will be completely different in 2 years. The opportunity to coach in the SEC (even at UK) should be more appealing than staying in the Big East. If the FB facilities and the commitment to improving facilities is bigger at UC than UK. then that speaks volumes as to the state of UK football.

+1 The last paragraph is all anyone needs to know. Spot on
This 1000%. If the Pres and Mitch use UK's bonding authority to put forth a grand plan for football upgrades, it will show the commitment necessary to attract a coach everyone would be happy with. If Joker is fired, and things continue as they always have, Mitch will struggle mightily to attract anyone for the job.

I'd rather have a cardboard cut out of......well.........*anyone* than David Cutcliffe.
Where does Jones do most of his recruiting/
Ohio (including Cincy), Florida, Georgia
The big east won't be a bcs conference in two years.
In terms of taking beat downs for 2/3 years. That's an awful take. Whoever coaches UK next year will inherit a roster that is pretty darn good in terms of the players in their first 3 years in the program. We'll have 2 or 3 very good qb's, a deep receiving corps, etc...
If David Williams takes the judgeship he is rumored to be eyeing then the prospects of having a renovated CWS and recruiting room goes up greatly.
I think Jones would love the opportunity to coach in lexington, especially when you consider the young talent on the roster.
Butch has already turned down Illinois, Tennessee, and UCLA........and you think he's waiting for UK? .......NOT!
I should have said it differently. No one who knows football would want Leach. His system would get killed in the SEC. Hell it's getting killed in the Pac 12 right now.
Where did you see this? I Don't remember his name ever coming up for those schools? I could be wrong?
