Ouch. “Patrick dearly wants to contribute to the University of Kentucky and he wants to do it now, but as far as transferring, we’ve not made any decisions on that.” Not exactly a glowing endorsement for staying at UK.
He goes on about not wanting to redshirt, wanting to play now......tough situation.
Fat lady is singing and singing loudly IMO.
Patrick is a winner and this article just shows how competitive he is. That's what you want. If I was a qb on this team........after watching yesterday I'd be mad too if I didn't play
Hey, I want to play now. Lets transfer so I can sit out another year.
Patrick Towles @ patty_ice14
I dont want to play for anyone but The
University of Kentucky... #BBN

So if he redshirts this year, then sits the bench the next two years behind smith, it will be a while before he ever plays lol. He better either grab a snickers, or he may be on his way out:(.
Or ... or ... you can compete like 99 percent of college players do. Quarterback is the most competitive position in college football. Can only have one on the field at a time. Go earn it.
Bobby Petrino will get him a series in each half next year, as he typically does with his backup QB.
Yeah, that is very true... But apparently it wasn't close this year, guess that could change... But, one would think it won't given that both Qbs will improve at the same rate, especially smith given the fact he is the only one getting game experience, and lots of it
I've said since day one, Patrick Towles should be given a chance to start and NOT be redshirted... and I was damn near all alone with that opinion on here. We saw what get now when Smith is hurt... and I think Towles would have done better than Newton. Yeah... even in his first game as a freshman... even in the SEC... and even on the road at Florida. Newton at his best, is nowhere near as good as Towles on a bad day. IMHO. Everyone wants to be sideline coach, but it appears this could backfire on everyone, including Joker and those of you who suggested RS. At this point, I would not blame him a bit for transferring.
My 2 cents is that he should just hold on through the season. You don't have to announce a transfer right now (Towles or anyone else for that matter).
It should be crystal clear to everyone that a coaching change will happen and IMHO the new guy will - assuming everything we have been told about Towels ability to make all the throws - will give the ball to Patrick. Lots of reason to do this as a coach (unless reports on his talent are not true), you have 4 years with a guy in your system and you have a honeymoon of a year or two to get it in place and show improvement.
At least this is what I expect to see.
