Kentucky Wildcats: 4.5 wins (under - 130)
The good news for Joker Phillips: between Kent State, Western Kentucky and Samford, he probably has three W's already scheduled into the win column. (We say "probably" because WKU did anything but roll over for the 'Cats last year, and a feisty Golden Flashes defense could cause Phillips's lo-fi offense some serious problems.) The bad news: is there even one more W out there? The most likely candidates are the road game at Louisville and the home dates vs. Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, but all three of those teams 1. beat Kentucky last year, by an average of more than 16 points 2. should be improved this year. We can give the 'Cats one more win somewhere ... but two? Nope. Projection: UNDER

Ouch. Not only does this guy pick UK to win 4 or less, but in breaking down the other SEC East team's schedules, he pretty much lumps UK in with FCS schools and low end non-BCS programs (which is selling the 'Cats short, IMO).
His note about the WKU not rolling over for UK is spot on. In talking with someone pretty close to WKU's program over the weekend, they will come to Lexington expecting to beat UK. Sure hope UK is ready to play that weekend.
There are a lot of other prognosticators making similar predictions about uk's record this fall. I'm waiting to see some articles predicting 6-8 wins.
I don't really put any stock into what these people say. As far as I'm concerned, they don't have any more knowledge than fans. We will wait and see, but it seems to me that Kentucky sometimes does better when expectations are lower( a la 2006) than when expectations are higher (like in Phillips' first two seasons). I think Kentucky will win at least 5 games with a good chance at 6.
I am going to predict right here and now that UK will beat WKU by three touchdowns.
I'd bet the over. We were terrible offensively last year and still won 5 games. It cracks me up that people thing that WKU will give us a good game. We're going to mop the floor with them at home. That game was close last year for a bunch of reasons that will not exist this year.
UK and the coaches and the team have no were to go but up in their expectations of winning more than 4 games.
Anyone with a sound mind would be hard pressed to see UK winning 8 games but I have already read it on here from some posters. Remember, sound mind.
Beat Louisville has to be the mind set of this team. Joker has to pull every trick in the book and win by any means necessary. Spy on them. Cheat, do whatever it takes to come out on top.

I agree. While I think there is a good chance of going 4-8 this yr, I think that 5-7 is much better odds. Possibly 6-6 if things really, really, really go our way......(please, please, please)
But, by no means, am I thinking that we'll be a ton better.....just better by default. We were so horribly bad last yr that things almost have to be better this yr......at least a little, right?
UK wins 6 minimum this fall. The OOC tilts plus Mississippi St. and Vandy.

Absolutely they feel that way, have some family who attend WKU and the winning attitude and confidence instilled by Willie Taggart is legit. He is single handedly saving them from the questionable decision to go D-1. They will roll into Commonwealth with a lot of young Florida talent and on a high from last years winning streak.
As Matt Jones said on his show the other day, just please not 5 wins. 4 wins or less and Barnhart won't have much choice but to make a change. 6 wins or more and Joker gets a new contract. 5 wins? Yeesh, the decision would be difficult. Unfortunately I see us winning 5 as of now - WKU, KSU, Miss St, Mizzou, and Samford.
I see us at 5 wins myself. I think we'll see 5 wins, they'll return Joker amidst some fan turmoil, and then in 2013 we'll get back to 7 regular season wins......then everyone will be confused as to what kind of coach do we have. Is he a decent coach? Is he a coach that only can win when the personnel looks good? Is he a coach that lucked out in 2013? Should we keep him then? Etc. There'll be some confusion.
"Is he a coach that can only win when the personel looks good..." Is that a serious question? What coach has ever won at any place in the sec when the personel didn't look good?
I think even the most optimistic person would be hard-pressed to go past 5 or 6. They could play great this year and go 6-6 IMHO.
