Could this be the deal closer or just the final sales pitch. Would think Cal allready knows whos in and whos out for next years team now. Final piece of the puzzle
Geez, could the free people at least have a thread to discuss things that do not become premium only?
I understand you don't get what you don't pay for; however, it's like we can't have some less enlightened discussion without getting the big premium stamp on the newsworthy threads anymore. If someone wants to have a few posts to talk about a tweet sent my Evan Daniels, that doesn't seek possible here without the threads getting spammed. That's the way I view it anyway.
I agree. No one here broke that news, Evan Daniel's twitter broke that news. The first post was not premium therefore the thread was not intended to be. Absolute BS.
Sometimes folks like to limit the discussion to paying members. You guys are proving why they do that

Not really.... Please be specific.
That's a pretty crappy thing to say Hop..I dont visit this board much anymore because just about all of threads have become premium. It's a joke..I was one of the original members of Ky Ink and it's sad to see how this site has progressed..That is why so many guys here have asked for two sections, paying and non paying..At least the non payers could have a discussion without all of the VIP crap eating up the threads...
So much of the info on here is already on other boards and is being discussed over on those boards..I know I dont have money to invest in something like this but this was always a good site for discussion...Not so much anymore...Tacos and Moss are right on...Bye
I don't have a financial problem so much. I'm global management for a Fortune 500 automotive company. I can pay the fees, but then I have to answer to the wife... Who is an accountant. That said, I'd rather be in the dark. LOL.
So let me get this straight, according to the most passive aggressive woman I have ever seen on the internet, Hoptown, board management wanted this topic to arise on the hopes that I would respond. They would then make the thread premium, and get me to comment on it - something I have never done before.
For this to work, they need to call this dwhit character and convince him to start a thread. That happens, I comment, and the rest is history. Some folks wanted me out of this discussion, and they pulled it off. Somewhere, a beer is being shared among board management in celebration.
Or hop is being a pompous, condescending ass. And he should... I mean, he lives in the Mecca that is Hopkinsville, Kentucky! Land of Jade Palace and Ravi Moss.
The other thought is that many "folks" are free users and want to have uninterrupted discussion on UK - even if that discussion lacks the insight that obviously comes with being a message board staff member.
From a SWOT standpoint, I think it's pretty clear that the ability to hold such discussion is available at most other sites. I would think they would not want that to be a weakness here, but I'm just trying to look at the situation overall rather than looking for the next personal dig I can develop toward another member.

To whom it may concern in this thread:
Yes, you are correct. Evan Daniels' Twitter broke the news that Cal was meeting with Wiggins today. You got me there. But what about when I want to drop some additional knowledge on this site's paying customers? That's when I make it VIP.
It seems as though the only people that have any complaints about this site are a small, but very vocal minority of non-paying members. You'll have to excuse me if a) I cater to the people that actually support this site and b) listen to my bosses and not to you.
You could be condescending to people who are PROSPECTIVE (not current) paying members of the site, or you could listen a bit. I take it you prefer the former?
If my management caught me in a conference room at Ford responding with that, I would likely be fired.
Just a suggestion since I don't think people "dislike" you providing input... But why not generate that insight on a premium thread? You can always respond on the new thread, for free, with a link to the premium without forcing all subsequent discussion becoming invisible to other members.
The vocal minority you are talking about are the people trying to be loyal to your board and getting slapped for it. The question you should ask yourself is "how many people are NOT here due to this feature?" You seem to jump to conclusions in a number of areas purely on # of complaints rather than looking from a complete business perspective. Just some thoughts. But even non paying members provide benefit to the site overall through clickstreams /traffic. Otherwise, you would not have any ad banners at all. Stop being so alienating to the people trying to help you improve. The good news, though, is if you want all of this people gone, they eventually will be. Ask your management what they prefer among all alternatives.
If 247 is publicly traded, and if you have good management, I know what that answer should be. While the raw emotion answer is cute, it's ill advised. Once you publish such answers, they can exist forever through screen captures.

Solid response.... Learned a ton. LOL
Just put him on ignore. He's much more tolerable that way. ;)
